dizzy It is customary to designate a symptom rather than a specific state of the body. Most of their forms are associated with sensations of some kind of movement, which in reality does not occur. A person standing still may feel the swaying, spinning, tilting of his body and experience the feeling of falling. In its simplest form, vertigo can manifest as a momentary loss of orientation and a feeling that the room is spinning.

Dizziness is often accompanied by other symptoms: nausea, lack of judgment of distance, sweating.

Any disorder of the inner ear apparatus can cause dizziness, since these fragile organs are responsible for the sense of balance.

Dizziness can have a very simple cause, such as motion sickness or earwax. However, it can be a symptom of a serious brain disease.

Injury cannot be ruled out; infections affecting the inner ear; effects of smoking, drug or alcohol use; positional hypotension.

Age. Dizziness occurs more often in older people - due to the appearance of vascular changes, an increase or decrease in blood pressure.

Diseases that cause dizziness: heat stroke, cardiovascular disorders, chemical and drug intoxication, severe vision problems, low or high blood pressure.

Injuries, operations. Dizziness is observed after operations, with profuse blood loss, as a result of a head injury (with a concussion), neck, and spine.

Allergic and toxic reactions. Dizziness can occur after being bitten by a poisonous insect or as a result of exposure to some kind of chemical.

Fright or shock. An unexpected negative experience (for example, the sight of blood) can temporarily lower the heart rate and thus lower blood pressure, leading to dizziness.

Food. In overweight people, dizziness may be associated with eating foods high in fat and cholesterol. Marathon runners and other athletes feel dizzy due to the fact that during periods of intense exercise they drink only water, thus violating the salt balance of the body.

Positional hypotension - a short-term drop in blood pressure that occurs during a sudden rise after a long stay in a sitting or lying position. It happens in the following way. When you lie or sit, the blood vessels are slightly dilated. When standing up quickly, they must narrow sharply in order to maintain the necessary blood pressure in the new position of the body. The nervous system quickly and automatically makes the necessary changes. With positional hypotension, this reaction is slow. The pressure drops - and the flow of blood supplying the brain is weakened.

First aid boils down to three steps:

1. Reduce the flow of external stimuli. If possible, retire to a darkened room, carefully sit or lie down and close your eyes. If you are in a public place, try to fix your attention on some immovable object, say, on your own hand clenched into a fist.

2. Position the head below the rest of the body. If possible, lie down on a bed with your lower body slightly elevated relative to your upper body. This improves blood circulation in the brain. This technique can help get rid of bouts of dizziness.

3. Keep your head still. The goal is to provide normal orientation in the environment.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Ultra-compact electric vehicle iEV Z 20.02.2022

The Danish company iEV Motors has introduced a very compact electric car iEV Z, whose dimensions are 78 cm wide, 145 cm high and 198 cm long - the latter figure may vary depending on the needs of the owner. The machine weighs only 220 kg.

If the owner of the iEV Z needs to put a passenger in the passenger compartment, the drives of the electric vehicle fold out the second seat behind the driver’s seat and extend the body up to 235 cm. In addition to the passenger, luggage can also be loaded into the passenger compartment, increasing the length of the car up to 275 cm. .

You should not expect advanced technical characteristics from such an electric car: there is only one motor with a power of 1 kW (1,36 hp), which accelerates the car to 45 km / h, and a battery with a capacity of 3,3 kWh provides a cruising range of 100 km and fully charged in 3 hours. Solar panels on the roof serve as an additional power source. If local laws allow, the automaker says, this electric car can even be driven in bike lanes.

The ultra-compact iEV Z will go on sale later this year. The first 50 buyers will be able to purchase it for 5 euros. Some time later, an advanced version of the iEV Z + car will appear.
