Google CEO Sergey Brin said he paid for a Dutch university project to create the world's first artificial patty. The piece of synthetic meat shown in the photo below was grown from cells taken from the shoulder of a cow, which grew into pieces of meat (about 20 thousand fibers in total), were turned into minced meat, and then into a cutlet.

As a result, not a single animal was killed during the creation of the cutlet. Apparently, it was the humane treatment of animals, along with a love of meatballs, that brought the project to the attention of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who told the Guardian: meat is not produced this way," he said, pointing to animal cruelty.

250 thousand euros were spent on the creation of the first artificial cutlet, but this gave an idea of how humanity will provide itself with food in the future. In theory, in two or three decades, the technology may become quite mass-produced, and in the store, buyers will have a choice between natural and artificial meat. Also, the technology in the future can give a lot of advantages in terms of reducing the environmental damage caused by intensive animal husbandry.

The patty was reportedly cooked and eaten on August 5 at an event in London in front of 200 journalists. Faux meat was sampled by lab leader Mark Post, food author Josh Schonwald, and nutrition researcher Hanni Rutzler.
