First, seal the edges of the glass from the inside with strips of white and black paper. The glass became striped like a zebra! In this glass you need to put a candle, so that it stands exactly in the middle. To do this, prepare several cardboard circles of such a diameter that they just fit into the glass. In the middle of each circle, cut a round hole the size of the candle. In order for the holes to be exactly in the middle, they must be drawn with a compass from the same center from which you drew the circumference of the circle.

Glue the cloves to the outside of the glass with stearin. To each face of carnations. And all at the same height. Let's say 2 cm below the edge. It is convenient to glue, holding the glass horizontally in the left hand, and with the right, applying a carnation, dipped with a hat in stearin, each time to the upper edge. Count how many nails you put on. Usually a glass has eight sides, which means that there will be eight carnations.

Now everything is ready, the experiment can begin. Put the glass on a plate, put cardboard mugs into it, and carefully insert a piece of candle into them of such a height that the wick does not reach the edge of the glass a little. Light a candle and see what happens next.

We heat the cut glass

A minute passes, then another... Everything is quiet. But here - click! The first carnation fell into the plate. Click, click! Second and third. Click! Fourth.

That's enough, put out the candle. Half of the carnations remained on the glass, did not have time to peel off. And look how interesting: they all remained on the white edges. And they fell off the blacks! Why?

The candle here did not heat the glass in the same way as it heated the long nail in the previous experiment. The flames did not lick the glass. The glass was heated simply because the rays from the candle fell on it. In this way, for example, the Sun heats our planet, And in the summer, when the sun's rays fall the most, they tell you: dress in white! Don't wear black clothes, it's hotter!

White color reflects the rays falling on it. And black absorbs them. That is why the black edges heated up faster, and the carnations peeled off from them in the first place.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Two new inductors from Vishay 30.09.2008

Vishay Intertechnologv Corporation has expanded its IHLP inductor family with the new IHLP4040DZ-01 and IHLP-4040DZ-11 flat plate inductors, which operate at high frequencies and currents and provide low inductance.

The new inductors can be used in voltage regulators and DC-DC converters in mobile phones, laptops, desktops, servers, graphics cards, games, players, navigation devices and automotive systems.

The IHLP-4040DZ-11 operates at a maximum frequency of 1 MHz, and the IHLP4040DZ-01 operates at a frequency of 5 MHz. The IHLP-4040DZ-11 is available in ratings from 0,19 to 100 µH and has a saturation current of 2,25 to 46 A. The IHLP-4040DZ-01 provides inductance from 0,19 to 10 µH with a saturation current of 12 to 90 A.

The inductors are 0,405x0,453 in. (10x12 mm), RoHS compliant and rated for temperatures from 55 to 125°C.
