Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production".

1.2. Hazardous production factors: moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment; moving products, blanks, materials.

Sources of factors: rotating parts of the machine, workpiece feed mechanisms, loose fastening of compressed air hoses.

Effect of factors: possible injury to the worker in contact with the rotating parts of the machine and in the event of a breakdown of the air hoses. Possibility of injuring fingers when working on the bending mechanism and crimping mechanism.

1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton suit; chrome boots with leather soles; goggles; combined gloves.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Check the serviceability of the mechanism for turning on and stopping the machine, the bending mechanism and the clamp crimping mechanism.

2.2. Turn on the bending mechanism and clamp crimping mechanisms only after filling the blanks into these devices and removing hands from the danger zone.

2.3. Check the serviceability of the compressed air hoses and the strength of their fastening at the connection points with the help of fittings and coupling clamps, as well as the presence and serviceability of the gear guards of the machine.

2.4. Set stops according to the size of the manufactured frame or mullion.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Make sure that your fingers do not get between the stops and the workpiece when placing the workpiece into the machine.

3.2. Do not correct workpieces while the machine is running.

3.3. Remove the workpiece from the bending device after the mechanism returns to its original position.

3.4. When cutting down flattened wood with a hand tool, clamp it in a vise or other devices.

3.5. When installing the bracket and the ends of the frame into the crimping mechanism, remove the leg that drives the mechanism from the pedal.

3.6. Monitor the serviceability of the hoses and their fastening at the connection points.

3.7. Do not kink the compressed air hose.

3.8. Shut off the compressed air supply when leaving the machine.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. Turn off equipment.

4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management.

4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher.

4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning.

4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.).

Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base.

4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material.

5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners.

It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air.

5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place.

5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap.

5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Containers under the cover 07.01.2010

Cargo containers placed on the deck of a container ship create air resistance, to overcome which excess fuel is spent. In calm weather, this is only a few percent of the total fuel consumption, but in a storm, consumption can increase by 60%.

Engineers of the Technical University in Hamburg (Germany), having done experiments with models of container ships in a wind tunnel, offer to cover the deck with a streamlined cover.

True, skeptics remind that they tried to install collapsible fairings on ships about fifteen years ago, but it turned out that too much time and labor goes into their installation and dismantling.
