Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Characteristics of dangerous and harmful production factors 1.2.1. Moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment; moving products, blanks, materials. Sources of the factor: moving and rotating parts of the glass edge processing line; edge of glass. Effect of the factor: the possibility of the worker’s hands coming into contact with moving parts of the line; the possibility of abrasive wheels breaking and flying out, and splinters flying into the eyes; Possibility of injury from the glass edge. 1.2.2. An increased voltage value in an electrical circuit, the closure of which can occur through the human body. Source of the factor: electric drive, electric motors with abrasive wheels. Effect of the factor: the possibility of electric shock during a short circuit if water gets on live parts of the equipment. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton suit; two-fingered mittens with elongated cuffs; leather boots. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Check the serviceability and reliability of fastening of the abrasive wheels. Abrasive wheels should not have potholes or cracks. 2.2. Make sure there are no foreign objects on the line. 2.3. Make sure that fences and safety devices are in place and in good condition. 2.4. Check and adjust the flow of process water. 2.5. Check the operation of the vacuum pump and vacuum suction cups. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Before processing glass, make sure there are no glass defects. Do not handle defects! 3.2. If repeated glass breakage is observed during operation, stop work immediately. 3.3. Do not adjust the gaps between the abrasive wheels and the glass during processing. 3.4. Do not allow glass to heat up. 3.5. Lubrication of moving parts should be carried out after the line has completely stopped. 3.6. Monitor the vacuum in the vacuum system. Do not allow a vacuum less than 0,5 MPa. Do not turn off the vacuum pump during operation. 3.7. Waste glass, fragments, small debris, unsuitable for further use, should be carefully and smoothly disposed of in a special box. 3.8. When moving, rearranging, or transporting glass, be sure to wear gloves. 3.9. When transporting, do not overload the trolley beyond its carrying capacity. 3.10. In the event of the cart tipping over, do not attempt to hold the glass. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off the line. Turn off the water supply to it. 5.2. Clear the line from the cut glass. 5.3. Take out the broken glass in a specially designated place.
