Safe Operation

1. General safety requirements

The section is set out independently on the basis of the Standard Instructions TOI R-07-001-98 "General safety requirements for professions and types of work performed in the field" taking into account the specifics of a particular forestry enterprise.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. The area under forest crops should be surveyed in advance, places for rest are planned. Places for rest and dangerous places are protected by warning signs.

2.2. Immediately before work, it is necessary to check the availability, suitability and put on personal protective equipment, the serviceability of hand tools, machines and mechanisms, for landing machines - alarms, fencing hazardous areas, seat belts, and other safety equipment provided for by the design of the machine.

2.3. The installation of markers on the forest planting and sowing machines is carried out with the unit stopped.

2.4. Clarify with the foreman the procedure for performing the work provided for by the technological map, with which the team (link) was familiarized.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Cleaning of sowing devices must be carried out with special scrapers; it is not allowed to mix the seeds in the devices with your hands.

3.2. Manipulators must be behind the forest machine at a distance of at least 10 m.

3.3. Before starting the movement of the forest planter, planters must tie themselves with belts, it is not allowed to get off, sit down and load planting material while the machines are moving.

3.4. With the simultaneous operation of several forest planters, the distance between them in a flat area should be at least 20 m. At the end of the corral, when turning, it is necessary to stop the unit, after which the planter must leave the workplace.

3.5. Trees must be removed from landing strips. When machines encounter obstacles, when making U-turns and crossings, the planters must leave their workplaces at the signal of the tractor driver after stopping the tractor.

3.6. When planting a forest manually, the links of the planters should be at a distance of no closer than 2,5 m from each other.

When preparing the gaps, the planter must be on the side of the swing of the hoe, it is forbidden to be in front of or behind the swing.

When planting, a distance of at least 3-5 prepared gaps between the planter and workers with a hoe must be constantly maintained.

3.7. When working with a motor-drill, you can move around the forest planting area with the engine running at idle (the working body does not move). When traveling a long distance, the motor drill turns off. The drill must be used with the use of individual anti-vibration means.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. Stop work at wind speeds of more than 11 m/s, thick fog, heavy snowfall (visibility less than 50 m), take cover in a safe place until the situation improves.

4.2. During a thunderstorm, stop work, take a safe place in a clearing, an area of deciduous young growth, between trees growing at a distance of 20 m from each other, in the mountains and hilly terrain closer to the middle of the slope, if possible, settle down on insulating material (dry deadwood, moss, birch bark), remove metal objects, machines, mechanisms from oneself.

It is forbidden during a thunderstorm: to be in motion, on top of a mountain, hill, edge of a forest; stop at streams, rivers, lakes; hide under separate trees, rocks, stones, lean against them; stand near and under power lines, near triangulation signs, be located closer than 10 m from other towers and signs, near machines and mechanisms.

4.3. In the event of a forest fire, take measures to extinguish it on your own, if possible, provide information to the forestry, forestry or other organization, enterprise, or the population. If it is impossible to extinguish the fire, take personal safety measures and leave the place of ignition.

Do the same in case of any other danger (environmental, natural disaster, radiation, chemical hazard) that threatens people's lives.

4.4. In the event of a forced stop of the unit, turn off the engine and brake the tractor, do not stay on the side of the mountain. Report the incident to the master (another leader).

4.5. In case of an accident, provide the victim with first aid, if necessary, take measures to deliver him to a medical facility, if possible, preserve the situation of the incident, inform the work manager about the case.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Clean, put in order the tools, equipment, mechanisms, place them for storage in the designated places. Put out the fires.

5.2. Remove uniforms, overalls and footwear, clean and free them from dust, and store them.

5.3. Make sure that there is no encephalitis tick, if present, remove it.

5.4. Perform hygienic procedures, when working in the zone of radiation contamination, perform the prescribed procedures.

5.5. Report all comments on the work to the official and enter the comments in the register of administrative and public control on labor protection.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Ancient Egypt destroyed by volcanoes 21.10.2017

Scientists have discovered that a volcanic eruption caused the decline of ancient Ptolemaic Egypt 2000 years ago. A multidisciplinary study involving historical sources and geological data has helped an international team of scientists find a connection between massive volcanic eruptions and social unrest in the Ptolemaic realm. The Ptolemaic dynasty (305-30 BC) ruled from the end of the era of the campaigns of Alexander the Great until the reign of the legendary Cleopatra, who committed suicide by means of a poisonous snake.

"The ancient Egyptians were very dependent on the summer flooding of the Nile, which had a direct impact on crop production in Egypt," said Yale University lead scientist Jail Manning (Joseph Manning).

A group of scientists was able to reconstruct the geological processes of that era and compare them with historical events. The sulphurous gases released into the atmosphere affected the monsoon rainfall in the Ethiopian highlands, weakened the rain belt system and, as a result, depleted the rivers.

"For the same period, we can find information about the social upheavals that may have caused the riots, as well as various negative political and economic consequences," Manning said.

Volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer, from the University of Cambridge, said: "There are those who greatly overestimate the role of environmental factors in the fate of civilizations, but it should not be overlooked that the economic and social component of the problem is much more important."
