I propose a design of a grinder driven by an electric motor. I tried three options and settled on this one, as the easiest to manufacture and at the same time quite high-performance, easy to use. It can grind all kinds of fruits and vegetables, even zucchini and pumpkins cut into pieces. Experience has shown that when chopping the same apples in this way, the juice yield during subsequent pressing is much greater than when crushed by hand.

It is also important that the unit justifies itself from a hygienic point of view: after work, it can be easily disassembled for cleaning, washing and drying.

All main parts and assemblies of the grinder are mounted on a wooden support-base made of a board 30 mm thick and having two legs from the same board, as well as a window for the exit of the crushed mass into a container placed below.

The drive can be any electric motor with a power of 300 to 500 W and a shaft speed of about 1500 rpm. It is fixed to the base so that its shaft is directed along the base board, to which it is attached with M10 bolts with Grover's washers.

To install the chopper disc knives, the motor shaft is being finalized. A hole about 25 mm deep is drilled in it and a thread is cut for the M10 stud: a spacer sleeve with a washer is put on it for subsequent fastening of the circular knives.

Circular knives Ø 250 mm are cut from galvanized iron 1,5-2 mm thick. Holes are made in them, like on a grater. To vary the degree of grinding, one disc has holes Ø 8 mm, the other has holes Ø 12 mm. Then the discs are alternately laid on a wooden base, and taking into account their relative position on the shaft and the direction of rotation, a cutting “hole” is made at each hole: the drill shank is placed obliquely on the edge of the hole and a recess is formed by hammer blows.

When the discs are ready, a spacer sleeve and washers are put on the shaft along with them, then the entire set is clamped with a nut and a lock nut.

On the base, with the help of two window hinges, a wooden stand-bracket is installed, made of the same board as the base. It will serve, on the one hand, as a chipper for the crushed mass, on the other hand, as a support for the funnel-shaped hopper. Their mutual fastening is carried out through an auxiliary horizontal bar installed in the upper part of the rack. Another option is also possible: to solder the protective casing made of galvanized sheet with the hopper into a single block. The lower part of the casing is also attached to the base board with the help of a window hinge; when the casing is lowered onto the discs, the hopper will take its place, leaning on the stand-bracket with a conical part. The figure shows the second version of the bunker attachment. This gives additional convenience when bringing the mechanism into working position, as well as during its maintenance.

So that the wooden parts do not suffer from moisture, they should be soaked several times with hot drying oil, and they can also be additionally painted with oil paint, preferably green or orange.
