Signs of drug intoxication. Basics of safe life

Fundamentals of Safe Life Activities (OBZhD)

With mild degree drug intoxication - exciting - as a rule, there is increased activity in movements, fast and excessively lively speech, not quite an adequate reaction to questions, a kind of gleam in the eyes. Sometimes a person laughs for no reason, in a word, is in a state of euphoria. Some people in this condition have decreased sensitivity to pain; theoretically, responsibility for one's actions can be realized, but there is no feeling of empathy.

Chronic drug addicts may notice bags under the eyes. By the way, it should be borne in mind that the reaction to the drug can be short-term, and the end of its action in an extreme situation for the addict can cause him to withdraw, the consequence and reflection of which will be a sharp deterioration in his condition. A person can be depressed and angry, or even more agitated and aggressive.

How to recognize a drug condition in a teenager?

In the first weeks of addiction to drugs, until drug addiction occurs, parents themselves can save their child if they pay attention to some signs:

  • high spirits or a sudden change in behavior; a teenager avoids parents, answers the phone furtively and in monosyllables;
  • slovenliness in clothes;
  • loss of money in the family;
  • reddening of the face, excessive gaiety, increased appetite are likely signs of marijuana, hashish; while in the room there is a sweetish smell;
  • lethargy, detachment, narrow pupils - signs of opium use;
  • the smell of glue, gasoline from hair and clothes (if the child inhales the vapors of these substances);
  • bloodshot eyes are the result of marijuana use.

In any case, the suspicion must be confirmed. The determination of a specific substance in the biological fluid of the body (urine, blood, saliva) is carried out in chemical and toxicological laboratories using thin layer chromatography. This takes into account that individual substances (opiates) are determined only at a significant concentration in the biological fluid, are quickly destroyed and excreted from the body (in 8 hours, most of the morphine is destroyed and excreted). Other drugs (for example, barbiturates) remain in the body fluid for up to 1-2 weeks. Therefore, the recognition of alcohol, narcotic or toxic intoxication must be not only clinically substantiated, but also laboratory confirmed. From this follow measures of social influence and individual treatment of the patient.

It should be noted that in recent years the symptomatology of the clinical manifestations of drug addiction and substance abuse has changed. This is primarily due to the expansion of the arsenal of toxic intoxicants. Therefore, brain damage and complications, which are recorded primarily in adolescents, are difficult to diagnose. But diagnostics are needed in order to start targeted prevention.

The first use of narcotic substances, as a rule, causes unpleasant and painful sensations. But later comes the substance abuse syndrome. Parents should notice this period earlier than teachers, police and doctors, and seek help.

D. V. Kolesov in his book "Prevention of bad habits in preschoolers" (1984), describes four conditions for the formation of good habits:

The first is the close attention of parents to the actions of the child, when these actions may be harmful. It is necessary to develop the right habit in the child and consolidate it into a habit.

The second is the strict organization of all the child's activities, but without suppressing the initiative.

The third is a positive example of an adult for the formation of a good habit.

Fourth - reinforcing actions in the form of praise, approval, an example for other children in the family or friends.

The lack of reliable information at the family and community level on the prevalence of drug and substance use, including smoking, makes it difficult to accept the facts associated with the severe health consequences of these substances.

The first signs of an emotional change in the personality of a teenager, established by parents or teachers, should alert doctors, who must be urgently contacted in order to prescribe appropriate therapy.

Addicts warn parents:

1. Do not attack a teenager with reproaches and harsh measures!

2. Try to have a confidential conversation.

3. It is best in this case to contact a specialist. Table 5 provides data on signs that can help parents and educators determine if a teenager has had drug use.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Flame retardant bioplastic from unicellular algae 21.07.2023

Scientists from the US have presented a new type of bioplastic, which is derived from blue-green cells of cyanobacteria, better known as spirulina.

Spirulina, which is a type of blue-green algae, is rich in vitamins and minerals. It is commonly used as a health supplement. Now researchers have applied spirulina to create a new kind of bioplastic that can decompose in a compost pit in the same amount of time as a banana peel.

Bioplastic is entirely made from powdered biomass of cyanobacteria. Using heat and pressure, similar to the process of creating conventional plastics, specialists formed various shapes from spirulina powder.

The choice of spirulina is due to its ability to be cultivated on a large scale, as well as the fact that cyanobacteria cells absorb carbon dioxide during growth. This makes spirulina carbon-neutral and potentially carbon-rich. In addition, it has fire retardant properties.

"One of the main benefits of spirulina bioplastic is its ability to extinguish fire instantly, unlike many traditional plastics that can burn or melt," explains Harish Iyer, lead author of the study.
