Currently, one of the first places in international relations is the problem of rationalization of nature management and environmental protection. Therefore, it is not enough to improve the legislation and the system of nature management only in one's own country; it is necessary in every possible way to promote the development of international cooperation and international legislation regulating the joint efforts of all countries in the field of nature protection.

International cooperation can be carried out on a bilateral and multilateral basis. Its history spans over a hundred years.

The most important documents in the system of international environmental relations:

1) the World Party for Conservation of Nature, which proclaimed and protected the right of all forms of life to survive;

2) Convention on the Prohibition of Military and Any Other Hostile Use of Means of Influencing the Natural Environment;

3) Convention on climate change;

4) Convention on Biological Diversity;

5) Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer;

6) Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna;

7) Declaration on the human environment, which is a set of fundamental principles of international cooperation;

8) Convention on Wetlands;

9) Convention on the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and a number of other documents.

International organizations monitor the implementation of the adopted agreements, coordinate joint efforts to protect nature and draw public attention to environmental problems.

They can be international (intergovernmental) or non-governmental (public):

1) the most important among interstate organizations is UNEP, created UN в 1972 g. for the implementation of the environmental protection program;

2) health aspects of environmental protection are considered by the World Health Organization (WHO);

3) control over compliance with the construction and operation of nuclear power plants is carried out by IAEA - The International Atomic Energy Agency, established under the auspices of UN в 1957 g.;

4) for Russia and other CIS countries, the creation of the Interstate Ecological Council is of particular importance (1992);

5) the World Wildlife Fund is actively involved in the conservation of biological diversity (WWF) ;

6) a well-known international public organization is "Greenpeace", whose main activity is to combat environmental pollution.

The EEC civil protection program includes the following activities:

1) dissemination of knowledge about protective measures and improvement of the quality of education;

2) development of a unified terminology;

3) development of networks for the detection of natural risk areas using satellites;

4) organization of seminars, symposiums, exhibitions and other public events;

5) creation of the European civil defense emblem and the establishment of honorary awards.

Russia participates in international cooperation carried out through the UN, UNESCO and other organizations, participating in the implementation of the special international program "Man and the Biosphere", the International Council for the Conservation of Birds, the International Federation of Youth for Research and Environmental Protection, in the work of the Scientific Committee on Environmental Problems Wednesday, the International Council of Scientific Unions. For example, on the initiative of the USSR, the "Convention on the Prohibition of Military and Any Other Hostile Use of Means of Influencing the Natural Environment" was developed and is in force, to which many states of the world have acceded.

At the initiative of the USSR, a resolution "On the historical responsibility of states for the preservation of the Earth's nature for present and future generations" was adopted.

In the field of environmental protection, bilateral cooperation is carried out between our country and the United States and includes 11 research programs and 30 projects, including: prevention of air pollution, protection of waters and the marine environment from pollution; prevention of environmental pollution associated with agricultural production; organization of nature reserves, study of the biological and genetic consequences of environmental pollution, etc. Cooperation with the USA Germany, England, France, Finland, Canada, Sweden and some other countries is carried out through the exchange of scientists and specialists, scientific and technical information, research results, holding bilateral conferences , symposiums and meetings, joint development of projects, programs, etc.

International cooperation on labor protection is carried out within the framework of the International Labor Organization, the World Health Organization, the Federation of Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygienists, and the International Organization for Occupational Safety and Health. In recent years, cooperation and interaction between the civil defense forces (CS) of the NATO member countries and especially the countries of the European Economic Community has been successfully developing. The Commission of the European Communities has adopted a joint program of member countries for cooperation in the field of civil protection.

In accordance with the "Open partial agreement on the prevention of natural and technological disasters, protection from them and assistance to victims" reached by a number of European countries, the European Center for Disaster Prevention and Earthquake Forecasting was established in Greece.

The international civil defense organization constantly conducts comprehensive and targeted training of the leadership of organizations, civil defense forces and the population for conducting rescue operations.

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

Light-eating cyborg bacteria 26.08.2017

Scientists from the University of California at Berkeley, USA, have created bacteria that feed on light and contain semiconductor nanocrystals. Cyborg microbes can synthesize various organic compounds, doing it more efficiently than in the process of photosynthesis.

The non-photosynthetic bacteria Moorella thermoacetica, which produce acetic acid from carbon dioxide during respiration, were used in the experiment. The scientists added cadmium and the amino acid cysteine, which contains a sulfur atom, to the nutrient medium on which the microorganisms grew. As a result, cadmium sulfide nanoparticles were formed, functioning as microscopic solar cells.

The hybrid microorganism, designated by the researchers as M.thermoacetica-CdS, is able to synthesize acetic acid from carbon dioxide, water and solar energy. Bacteria can be made to produce nutrients, fuels and plastics using genetic modification, scientists say. At the same time, this technology will be waste-free.

The quantum efficiency of ordinary photosynthesis reaches 30 percent, since it takes only 114 kilocalories (kcal) to assimilate one mole of carbon dioxide, although in reality this consumes an amount of photons containing 381 kcal. In cyborg bacteria, this figure is increased to 80 percent.
