It has been established that the real reason for the desire to accept alcohol is the desire for elemental pleasure, which cannot be controlled by moral norms and considerations about the possibility of individual and social consequences. Therefore, most often alcohol is consumed by mentally immature individuals (young people) or disabled individuals who have little access to real pleasures due to an insufficient level of moral and intellectual development. At the same time, the harmful effects on the health of the lover of alcohol are not taken into account at all. Meanwhile, it has been established that alcohol has a destructive effect on all human systems and organs.

As a result of the systematic use of alcohol, a symptomatic complex of morbid addiction develops, in which a sense of proportion and control over the amount of alcohol consumed is lost, the activity of the central and peripheral nervous system is disrupted: psychoneuritis appears, etc., and the functions of internal organs are also impaired. Disturbances of balance, attention, clarity of perception of the environment, coordination of movements that occur during intoxication often become the cause of accidents.

Alcoholism causes metabolic disorders, as a result of which damage to the nervous system is observed. The effect of alcohol on the gastric mucosa is expressed in the violation of all its functions, the development of chronic alcoholic gastritis, accompanied by a significant decrease in the acidity of gastric juice, which leads to more serious damage to this organ.

A particularly harmful effect of alcohol on the liver is noted, since with its prolonged use chronic hepatitis develops, leading to cirrhosis of the liver. In addition, alcohol adversely affects the pancreas, causing many of its diseases and functional disorders.

Alcohol causes dysregulation of vascular tone, heart rate, metabolism in the tissues of the heart and brain, irreversible changes in these tissues. The consequence of such violations may be cardiac arrest and cerebral edema. Alcohol has a harmful effect on the endocrine glands and primarily on the sex glands. At the same time, sexual function decreases, as a result of which, mainly in men, various functional disorders of the central nervous system easily occur, and in women there is a decrease in the ability to bear children and toxicosis of pregnant women is more often observed.

The systematic use of alcohol leads to premature aging and disability. Thus, the life expectancy of persons prone to drunkenness is reduced by 15-20 years.
