Activities and recreation take place in continuous interaction with environment. In the "man - habitat" system, a person chooses a place of residence, type of activity, conditions for recreation, thereby determining for himself the habitat.

For a rural dweller, the habitat is a zone of productive activity with agricultural tools, as well as housing and the natural environment. Residents of the city are characterized by a consistent stay in the household (50-60%), urban (10-15%) and industrial (25-30%) environment.

Each habitat is characterized by a complex of chemical, physical and biological factors affecting a person (temperature and humidity, illumination, atmospheric air composition, levels of electromagnetic and radiation exposure, noise and vibration levels, viruses, bacteria, etc.). Together or separately, they have a beneficial or negative effect on human performance and health. Noise and gas pollution, a high level of electromagnetic interference from antennas, repeaters and power lines, various bacteria and viruses, polluted water, the presence of pesticides in the air, odors, allergens and much more negatively affect.

Being at home, a person feels cozy (comfortable) if the air temperature is 22-24 ° C at a humidity of 40-60%, if the room is well lit and there are no smells, noises, vibrations in it. Any deviations from comfortable conditions are accompanied by a violation of the psychophysical state and working capacity of a person, and with prolonged exposure to adverse factors, health disorders may occur.

In the conditions of a city, especially a large one, the cause of discomfort and disease is the gas and dust content of the atmospheric air, the high level of noise and vibration, household and industrial waste, pollution of the earth's surface and water bodies. The urban environment is dangerous. Of particular concern is the high rate of injuries and deaths in road traffic accidents.

The complex of negative factors of the production environment is characterized by diversity and a high level of impact on a working person. The most common factors include gas contamination and dustiness of the air in the working area, unfavorable temperature conditions, increased noise, insufficient lighting, heavy physical work, and increased vibrations.

Occupational diseases, injuries, poisoning and death of people are inevitable if safety requirements are observed in the working environment.

Every year in Russia, the total number of injuries at work is 400, of which 8000 are injuries that led to death. Occupational diseases are annually received by 11 people.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Sensors implant people and create a single network 02.06.2012

The IEEE has announced a new information exchange standard, IEEE 802.15.6-2012. It is designed for the purpose of wirelessly transmitting data between very low power devices operating in close proximity to the human body. At the same time, engineers tried to minimize the impact of the human body on the performance of the wireless network, regardless of the specific implementation of devices that support IEEE 802.15.6-2012. All this will allow the development of a new generation of implantable wireless devices, accelerate the arrival and development of new technologies for tracking the state of the body, and in addition will lead to the creation of a whole range of devices of the so-called "wearable electronics" class.

The IEEE 802.15.6-2012 protocol refers to a short distance data transmission interface, but this ensures extremely low power consumption of devices and high reliability of the exchange of important information. These requirements are necessary for the operation of equipment in close proximity to the human body or even inside the body. At the same time, a sufficiently high data transfer rate is provided - up to 10 Mbit / s, which allows you to implement the most daring and revolutionary ideas.

The use of such a protocol for wireless transmission of information seems to be almost limitless. Firstly, these are all kinds of systems for monitoring the state of the body. Starting with such routine analyzes as electroencephalography, electrocardiogram, ending with constant monitoring of the main vital signs: body temperature, heart rate, pressure. Secondly, it becomes possible to create systems for the automatic "delivery" of medicines into the blood, regardless of the state of the person. For example, in diabetes mellitus, insulin would enter the bloodstream if blood glucose fell below a certain level. And these are the simplest applications that can be implemented in the shortest possible time.

This is regarding the medical application of the IEEE 802.15.6-2012 protocol. The applications of the new technology are, in fact, countless, including in revolutionary new entertainment and gaming systems. Sensors integrated into clothing can be combined into a wireless network that constantly monitors the user's movement, his location relative to surrounding objects, obtain information about the conditions in which he is, etc. Based on these data, the idea of a "smart home" can be implemented at a completely different level. , with much greater comfort for the user and "anticipating" his desires.
