Harmful called substance, which, when in contact with the human body, can cause injuries, diseases or deviations in the state of health, detected by modern methods both in the process of contact with it, and in the long-term life of this and subsequent generations.

The toxic effect of harmful substances is characterized by toxicometry indicators, according to which substances are classified as extremely toxic, highly toxic, moderately toxic and low toxic. The effect of the toxic action of various substances depends on the amount of the substance that has entered the body.

Harmful chemicals (organic, inorganic, organoelemental), depending on their practical use, are classified into:

1) industrial poisons used in production - organic solvents and fuels, dyes;

2) pesticides used in agriculture - pesticides, insecticides, etc.;

3) medicines;

4) household chemicals used in the form of food additives, sanitation, personal care, cosmetics, etc.;

5) biological plant and animal poisons contained in plants and fungi, animals and insects;

6) toxic substances - sarin, mustard gas, phosgene, etc.

К I will give It is customary to attribute only those that exhibit their harmful effects under normal conditions and in relatively small quantities.

К industrial poisons includes a large group of industrial substances and compounds that are found in production as raw materials, intermediates or finished products.

Poisons have selective toxicity. They are divided into:

1) cardiac with a predominant cardiotoxic effect (drugs, plant poisons, metal salts);

2) nervous, causing a violation of mental activity (carbon monoxide, alcohol, drugs, sleeping pills);

3) hepatic (chlorinated hydrocarbons, poisonous mushrooms, phenols and aldehydes);

4) renal - heavy metal compounds, ethylene glycol, oxalic acid;

5) blood - aniline and its derivatives, nitrites, arsenic hydrogen;

6) pulmonary - nitric oxide, ozone, phosgene, etc.

Industrial and chemical substances can enter the body through the respiratory system, the gastrointestinal tract and damaged skin.

Household poisoning occur when poison enters the gastrointestinal tract. Acute poisoning and diseases are possible when the poison enters directly into the blood (with a bite of snakes, insects, with injections of medicinal substances).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Tracking satellites and space debris 26.02.2022

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) this week unveiled a prototype satellite collision avoidance system called the Open-Architecture Data Repository (OADR). It should help in tracking potentially dangerous situations, which will be especially useful against the backdrop of the rapid growth in the number of satellites in Earth orbit and space debris.

The OADR system is a cloud-based database that collects data on the movements of all satellites and warns in a timely manner if there is a possibility of a collision of any vehicles and space debris. It is assumed that OADR will receive data from numerous scanning facilities located on the surface of the planet. After processing the received data, the system will form a picture of what is happening in orbit, which will be used to assess the likelihood of hazardous situations. If necessary, OADR will notify satellite constellation operators, giving them a few days to correct the course of the vehicles to avoid collision.

The authors of the project plan to eliminate a number of shortcomings in the automation of data collection and forecasting processes. If the further development of the project goes according to the plan, then the OADR system will be put into practice in 2024, and in 2025 it will be fully finalized and ready for operation.

It's no secret that near-Earth space is getting crowded. At present, at least 23 thousand objects with a diameter of 10 cm or more have already been put into orbit. Their number is growing rapidly and, according to some estimates, by 2030 the number of such objects will grow to 57 thousand. Therefore, the need for a system like OADR is already quite large.
