TOOLS AND MECHANISMS FOR AGRICULTURE
Auger juicer. Drawing, description Directory / Tools and mechanisms for agriculture Every time the time comes for canning vegetables and preparing juices, I catch myself thinking that again I will have to go to a neighbor for his juicer. It looks unpretentious and simple in design, but after working with it once, I can no longer force myself to use my industrial combine with an electric drive and numerous nozzles: after it, the whole kitchen will again have to be washed and all these nozzles cleaned. Whether it’s a neighbor’s home-made thing: and then only three parts are washed, and the seeds and pulp do not get stuck, and the productivity is such that, although manually, I get a bucket of tomato juice in 30-40 minutes. It is a pity that such devices are not on store shelves. Therefore, I decided to talk about the device of this combine on the pages of your magazine: maybe someone will make it for themselves, or maybe the industry will be interested. Outwardly, the juicer resembles a meat grinder: it is also fastened with a clamp to the foot, the same socket of the loading window, the same handle. However, this is where the similarity ends, since the principle of operation is completely different: there is no auger and familiar knives inside, although there is a grate at the exit. Instead of a screw - a small drum with scrapers-knives. With their blades, they grab a tomato (or slices, if large) and drag it along when the handle is turned, pushing it into the narrowing gap between the body and the drum.
The device of the mechanism is extremely simple. The parts visible from the outside are the clamp, two lamellar bracket posts above it, a bin with a handle and a mesh window for juice and a pulp exit window, with two trays below them. Inside there is a single unit - a drum, and in it - plates of retractable scraper knives with a spacer spring. The drum with its thickened bottom with a threaded hole is screwed onto the shaft shank, which is connected to the drive handle. The shaft bearing and at the same time the stuffing box is a fluoroplastic bushing, the body of which is a steel bushing welded to the sidewall of the hopper.
A mesh (a perforated plate with a hole Ø 1,5 mm) is welded to the lower window of the hopper - through it the juice flows to a long tray, fixed with bent ears in specially sawn grooves of the bracket racks. The pulp tray is welded to the hopper below its top window. The scrapers-knives are connected by a spacer spring. To do this, their plates are cut from below into three "petals": the two extreme ones are bent in opposite directions (stop), the middle one is inserted into the spring. At the top of the plate there is a lateral protrusion that limits its indentation into the slot of the drum.
The handle with the shaft is assembled as a single unit. The second assembly unit will be a drum with knives on a spring. It is inserted on top of the bunker; then a shaft is inserted into the fluoroplastic sleeve, which is carefully screwed to the drum. It remains to install the juice tray - and the harvester is ready to work. Due to the eccentric arrangement of the drum in relation to the walls of the body, the scraper knives sliding along them, the closer they are to the grid, more and more sink into the slot of the drum, and the tomatoes carried by them are squeezed more and more, kneaded. On the grid, they are already practically rubbed through its holes, completely releasing the juice under the pressure of the drum. And the almost dry pulp, which is then released at the exit from the grid, is pushed out by the knives through the window onto the discharge tray. The mechanism is disassembled just as easily as it was assembled: the juice tray is removed, the shaft is unscrewed from the drum (by reverse rotation of the handle) and the freed drum with knives is removed from the hopper - everything can be washed. It seems that this simple machine would be of great help to amateur gardeners and gardeners - after all, any soft fruits, berries and vegetables can be passed through it. The only exceptions are those that do not have seeds, but bones: they must first be removed, and the rest passed through a juicer. The proposed design was designed for tomatoes and is designed for a maximum fruit diameter of 50-60 mm. When using the machine for other types of vegetables, berries, fruits, appropriate changes can be made to the dimensions of the hopper, drum and other components and parts. I am sure: everyone who makes such a device will be satisfied.
