The truth will set you free

Bible

Phraseologism: The truth will set you free.

Meaning: Only a thinking, enlightened, educated person can be truly free. An uneducated, ignorant person easily becomes a slave to someone else's will.

Origin: From the Bible. In the Gospel of John (8:32) Jesus' words are quoted: "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." The expression gained fame as an inscription made over the entrance to the CIA - the US Central Intelligence Agency.

Random phraseology:

The land of ugly idiots.

Meaning:

About strange, absurd, narrow-minded (from the point of view of the speaker) people.

Origin:

From the Notebooks (published in 1966) by the Soviet writer Ilya Ilf (1897-1937): The land of unafraid idiots. It's time to be scared. Presumably, the original source of the expression is the title of Mikhail Prishvin's book "In the land of fearless birds. Onego-Belomorsky region" (1930).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Foxconn Banana Pi Platform for Mini PCs and Embedded Systems 24.09.2014

Foxconn introduced the Banana Pi platform, designed to create mini-PCs and embedded systems. The novelty is a functional computer, the overall dimensions of which are 92x60 mm. It is intended primarily for corporate users and enthusiasts.

Thanks to the support of open source software, the computer allows you to program the system for a variety of tasks. The novelty can work as a cloud server, provide control of home electrical appliances, act as a media center, maintain a security system, be used as a remote control for aircraft models, decode HD video streams, run games, etc.

The system has great potential thanks to its support for multiple operating systems: Banana Pi works equally well under Google Android, Ubuntu, Raspbian and Debian. The user will be able to use thousands of programs written by enthusiasts and intended for free distribution.

The system uses an AllWinner A20 dual-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A7 cores with its own Mali-400MP2 graphics chip, and 1 GB of DDR3 RAM. All user data can be stored both on SD memory cards and hard drives (SATA interface). External peripherals can be connected via two USB 2.0 ports, as well as a 3,5 mm audio jack. Video is output via HDMI, LVDS, CVBS and AV interfaces. For Internet access and home networking, there is a full-size Ethernet connector with a bandwidth of 10-1000 Mbps. Among other hardware features of Banana Pi, the developer notes a built-in infrared port that can be used to work with remote controls, as well as a microphone and an OTG connector.

The system is characterized by low power consumption: for its operation there is enough power from the MicroUSB port (power can also be supplied through an adapter from a household outlet). Also, the device is distinguished by a very wide range of opportunities opened by the ARMv7 platform, but at the same time it provides support for applications that were written under ARMv6.

Necessary accessories users can order separately. For example, two types of cases will be available, a SATA cable, and a charger (5V, 2A).

Foxconn Banana Pi is expected in retail sales in the end of Q50. at a recommended price of $55-XNUMX.
