Where did the high-five greeting come from?

The word "past" used to be called a brush or palm. There was also a greeting expression "give me a span!", which was later reduced by one letter and transformed into "gimme five!". The shortened phrase supposedly gained particular popularity due to the similar English idioms "High five!" and "Give me five!".

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. Tegra note 24.09.2013

Nvidia introduced Tegra Note, a complete platform for tablets based on Tegra 4. According to CNews, the platform expands the capabilities of the company's partners and allows them to create tablets equipped with innovative technologies at an affordable price. In exchange, Tegra gains access to developed sales and distribution networks around the world.

"This is not the company's first move in this direction. About a year ago, we introduced Project KAI, a Tegra 3-based tablet reference design that was intended to be the basis for creating high-quality Tegra 3-based tablets at an affordable price. The Google Nexus 7 has become one of such solutions. Tegra Note represents the next step, offering a complete platform, not just hardware," the company explained.

According to Nvidia, the platform features high performance - Tegra Note is based on Tegra 4, which includes a GeForce GPU with 72 cores and a 4-core Cortex-A15 CPU with a fifth low-frequency battery-saving core, making it the fastest in the world 7 inch tablet.

Nvidia's DirectStylus technology transforms an ordinary stylus into a responsive pen with fine nib and line weight adjustment. The tablet is equipped with applications for easy note-taking. DirectStylus Pro Pack offers different writing styles with interchangeable nibs. And support for Bluetooth connectivity turns the tablet into a game controller.

In turn, the Nvidia TegraZone app provides easy access to Tegra-optimized games with visual effects not available on other tablets. Tegra Note also supports various game controllers that allow you to play on tablets as comfortably as on consoles, the company said.

Nvidia PureAudio technology and front-facing bass-reflex stereo speakers provide deep, rich sound with a wide frequency range.

The tablet camera uses Tegra 4 computing power and Chimera computational photography architecture to offer new possibilities. Tegra Note is also bringing SmugMug's Camera Awesome app (a photography app for iOS) to Android. Camera Awesome offers exclusive features on the Tegra 4, such as tap-to-track and 100 fps video capture with slow motion video playback.

According to Nvidia, Tegra Note has a long battery life - more than 10 hours of HD video playback. A convenient cover-stand protects the tablet from damage. With built-in magnets, it also allows you to set it in three different positions for added flexibility in use.
