Who and when discovered unicorns and winged humanoids on the moon?

In 1835, the New York newspaper The Sun published a series of essays on the discovery of life and civilization on the Moon. Allegedly, astronomer John Herschel assembled a very powerful telescope and attached a microscope to it to see fine details. As a result, he discovered unicorns, tailless beavers and winged humanoids on the moon. The publications made a real sensation and dramatically increased the circulation of the newspaper, which did not fall even after the hoax was exposed.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Features of the Lytro Camera for Mobile Phones 05.01.2013

Toshiba has developed an ultra-compact photo module for smartphones and tablets, according to The Asahi Shimbun. The module, which is a cube with an edge length of one centimeter, will give mobile devices the same capabilities that the Lytro plenoptic camera has.

Lytro users determine the edge of sharpness in the picture after the fact. This is possible due to the fact that Lytro has an array of microlenses between the lens and the matrix, which capture information about the light field of the scene being shot in four dimensions. The Toshiba photomodule also uses an array of half a million microlenses. The final image is made up of multiple images "captured" by each lens. By analyzing the image from the lenses, the software determines the distance to each of the objects in the image.

Toshiba plans to start serial production of PV modules at the end of 2013. The developers do not exclude that the final version of the device will support work not only with photos, but also with videos.
