soulution 511 stereo power amplifier

02.05.2016

soulution introduced the Model 511 stereo power amplifier. The product is based on four 600VA switching power supplies with improved filtering and six linear, high-speed, low-noise voltage regulators, with a total capacity of storage capacitors of 500000 uF. Current amplification is carried out on three stages, demonstrating increased linearity, the current can reach 60 A. The cutoff frequency is 80 MHz.

The output power per channel when operating at a load of 8, 4 and 2 ohms reaches 150, 300 and 600 watts, respectively, and in mono mode it is already 600, 1200 and 2400 watts. The amplifier is connected to the output terminals with thick copper bars. Power is supplied separately to the amplifying part and auxiliary units, they are isolated from each other by means of optical isolation. The signal-to-noise ratio does not fall below 101 dB, the level of harmonic distortion does not exceed 0,004% in stereo mode, in mono mode it drops to 0,0004%.

The soulution 511 amplifier has one input and output balanced XLR connector and a pair of terminals for acoustics; there is an RJ-45 connector for communication with other soulution components. Those who wish will be able to purchase a novelty in October at a price of about 22200 euros.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Happiness hormone can cause depression 13.12.2015

The neurotransmitter serotonin is often referred to as the "happiness hormone". Molecules such as serotonin are used to transmit nerve impulses between nerve cells, and it has long been noted that a chronic lack of serotonin can lead to constant anxiety and depression: neurons in the nerve circuits responsible for emotional "positivity" communicate worse due to that they lack their neurotransmitter. Therefore, the action of many antidepressants is calculated on the fact that they will increase the level of serotonin in interneuronal synapses, thereby contributing to a positive emotional mood. (However, there is still a lot of uncertainty about the mechanism of action of antidepressants, and they still surprise neuroscientists - for example, we recently wrote that some of them are able to influence epigenetic modifications in cellular DNA.)

Through emotions, serotonin can influence behavior. For example, a few years ago, researchers from Oxford found that this neurotransmitter affects our perception of other people's relationships: the more it was, the more a person was inclined to evaluate other people's relationships as very romantic and very close (photos of couples were offered as an example for evaluation); and vice versa - with low levels of serotonin, other people's relationships seemed less close. And in 2012, Kyoto University staff published an article in the PNAS journal that talked about the relationship between brain serotonin levels and our sense of justice: the more serotonin, the more dishonesty we are willing to forgive another person.

However, as Mark S. Ansorge and his colleagues at Columbia University show, the results of serotonin are not that simple: its effect depends on where in the brain it is present. It is known that it is synthesized by the nuclei of the suture - the so-called clusters of neurons located along the midline of the medulla oblongata. The raphe nuclei are divided into several groups, among which there is an upper central nucleus and a dorsal nucleus. Both of them produce serotonin, which is used by other brain systems, but the nuclei's own neurons also respond to it, and for a long time it was not clear how the activity of local nerve cells affects behavior.

The experiments were carried out on mice, some of which were normal healthy animals, while others stimulated anxiety and depression. It turned out that the serotonin neurons of the raphe nuclei work differently in both. For example, an increase in anxiety was accompanied by an increase in the activity of the upper central nucleus; on the other hand, depression in mice weakened with a decrease in the activity of the same upper central nucleus, but increased with a decrease in the activity of the dorsal nucleus. The full results of the experiments are published in Cell Reports.

In other words, neurons using serotonin do not necessarily give only joy and happiness. Positive emotions rather depend on the balance of activities of different groups of serotonin neurons: if the balance is strongly skewed in one direction, then depression and anxiety will come instead of joy and happiness, although there may be more than enough serotonin. Of course, after mice, it will be necessary to check whether the serotonin nuclei of the raphe work in humans in this way, and if everything is really so, it is worth thinking about new antidepressants that would not just act on the level of one or another neurotransmitter, but would focus on some particular brain area.
