An international group of zoologists decided to educate calves about hygiene. To do this, they rewarded each calf after visiting the toilet, and they soon got used to defecate in the place designated for this.

Zoologists from the German Farm Animal Research Institute, together with Australian colleagues from the University of Auckland, decided to teach hygiene to calves. To do this, they rewarded each calf after visiting the toilet, and they soon got used to defecate in the place designated for this.

“At first, we punished the calves by putting microphones in their ears, and they played an unpleasant sound if the calf ignored the toilet. It didn’t work and we had to act with affection,” explains animal psychologist Jan Langbein.

Within a few weeks, 11 out of 16 experimental animals learned the rules of hygiene.

The result of this work is amazing. However, it also has one small problem. Not so long ago, the question of the morality of eating octopuses was discussed.
