What is typhoid fever?

Some of the most serious illnesses are gradually disappearing because people keep themselves clean and follow generally accepted sanitary standards. One such disease is typhoid fever. Just 60 years ago, thousands and thousands of people died every year from it.

Now death from typhus is almost excluded, but still occurs in the most backward regions. The causative agent of typhoid fever is Salmonella tiffosi, which belongs to the family of intestinal bacteria. She settles in the products of excretion.

After entering the human body, bacteria can constantly be in it, but do not multiply. Some people who have been ill with this disease become chronic bacteria carriers. Their body has such a feature that, in the absence of signs of the disease, it constantly contains the causative agent of this disease.

Once having been ill with typhoid fever, a person acquires strong immunity for life. Infection can occur when bathing in polluted water bodies, when drinking poor-quality drinking water, especially when there are violations in the water supply and sewerage system. You can also get infected both by direct contact with the patient, and through the things that he used.

There is a possibility of infection through food. When a person falls ill with typhus, he begins to feel general weakness, insomnia and sweating appear. In some patients, already at the very beginning of the disease, there is stupor, hallucinations and delirium. Within one to two weeks, the high temperature persists, then it begins to subside. After 30 days, the temperature returns to normal. During illness, a rash appears on the body. Usually on the skin of the abdomen, less often on the chest and shoulders.

Now the occurrence of typhus is prevented by sanitary requirements for water and sewerage. In addition, bacteria carriers should not take food with their hands. There is a typhoid vaccine that lasts for at least a year. There is one that has been around for several years.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

New line of noise protection filters TDK-Lambda 31.03.2009

The new TDKLambda R-Series low-profile single-phase and three-phase EMI filters allow designers to avoid mechanical compatibility and electrical performance issues when designing OEM equipment.

Single-phase filter models are available with current ratings ranging from 0,5 to 300 A for 250 V AC or 250 V DC, with a ground leakage current of 1 mA. A low leakage current of 1 µA is available at 250 VAC, 60 Hz.

Series B three-phase models are available in current ratings ranging from 6A to 1000A for 500V AC or 500V DC operation. The maximum earth leakage current is 2,5 mA at 250 VAC at 60 Hz or 5 mA at 500 V at 60 Hz.

Various mounting options are available: wire leads, spade terminal, captive screw terminal. Installation of models with current up to 30 A is provided both on the chassis and on the DIN rail. Products are certified for compliance with international standards.

The operating temperature range is from -25 to 85°C. The R series includes filters of both first and second order with effective suppression of low-frequency and impulse noise, with various bandwidths for suppressing interference and noise.
