What is shock?

You may get shocked when you see your test score or witness an accident. But from a medical point of view, this is not a shock. The word "shock" means a state in which the activity of the body is disturbed. Usually, this slows down the processes going on in it.

A person in shock may suddenly or gradually feel weak or close to fainting. He may become very pale, and his skin may become cold and sweaty. Sweating increases, and the pupils dilate. Shock is accompanied by changes in mental state.

It can begin with a feeling of anxiety, and end with a loss of consciousness. All these are signs of shock, appearing due to the fact that blood circulation decreases, as well as blood pressure. As with fainting, blood entering the brain can eventually lead to loss of consciousness. An insufficient amount of blood in the capillaries explains why the skin becomes cold.

If a person is injured and has lost a lot of blood, then this, of course, in itself can cause a state of shock. But shock can come from a lot of stress, a lot of excitement, pain or a sudden illness, some kind of accident. It is important to understand that for one reason or another, the blood does not circulate properly, and as a result, important processes in the body are disrupted. The best thing to do if a person is in a state of shock is to call a doctor.

Do not move the patient, sit him or put a pillow under his head. Lay the person on their back if they are unconscious and keep them warm until help arrives.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Space rocket powered by coal 29.05.2023

Official sources from the Chinese Space Corporation reported that the Tianlong-2 rocket (Tianlong-2) launched in April by the private company Space Pioneer ran on aviation kerosene obtained from coal. This was the first such test of a liquid fuel derived from petroleum.

Thus, China is trying to reduce dependence on imported energy resources and ensure fuel security in the aerospace industry. China did not have its own oil (and it was mostly of inadequate quality) and a lot of coal. Coal liquefaction technology has responded to challenges in the supply chains of petroleum products.

According to experts, a possible conflict with Taiwan is guaranteed to lead to a naval blockade of China and blocking oil supplies to the country along the main sea route. The deficit will partially have to be closed with our own resources. Therefore, in China, they began to create lines for the conversion of coal into aviation kerosene of the highest quality.

The Tianlong-2 launch vehicle is equipped with YF-102 engines powered by a kerosene-oxygen liquid fuel pair. This is a promising engine for new Chinese missiles, which can be used in carriers of other companies. The successful launch was preceded by more than 300 fire tests of the engine lasting over 60 seconds. The launch was successful with the launch of the payload into space, which proved the practical value of "coal" fuel.
