Who Invented the Camera?

Today, when we have the ability to take a snapshot and develop it so easily, it's hard to believe that it took hundreds of years of experimentation before it became possible. Photography was not the invention of any one person. To give you an idea of what brought it to its current level of excellence, let's take a brief look at its history.

Between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, people used a device called the camera obscura. It made it possible to project an image onto paper, which was then traced by hand to get an accurate drawing of the object. It is clear that in reality this camera was not a camera.

In 1568, Daniello Barbaro provided a "camera obscura" with an objective lens and a hole with a variable diameter to sharpen the image. In 1802, Thomas Wedgwood and Sir Humphry Davy produced silhouettes and images on specially coated paper using contact printing, but they were unable to achieve durable prints.

In 1816, Joseph Nips made a still imperfect camera from a box and a lens taken from a microscope, and was able to use it to get a negative image. In 1835, William Talbot was the first to make positives from negatives and also made durable prints.

In 1839, Louis Daguerre announced the invention of the daguerreotype process, in which the image was fixed on a silver plate. As time went on, different people around the world made their own improvements in the development of photography. Many of them are too technical to discuss here, but as you can see, it has been a long, slow process of growth.

And then, finally, in 1888, a camera developed by the Eastman Dry Plate and Film company using the Kodak system appeared on sale. It was sold already loaded with film 6 centimeters wide, sufficient for 100 exposures. After the film was used up, the camera was returned to the company in Rochester with it. Here the film was taken out and developed, the camera was recharged, and everything was returned to the client together.

This camera probably started the modern art of photography, which is popular among millions of people around the world.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food.
