When did humans start drinking milk?

Today, when we talk about milk, we mean cow's milk, since most of the milk a person receives from a cow. But milk from other animals is consumed by people all over the planet. In India they drink buffalo milk. Goat's milk is widespread in Mediterranean countries, and reindeer's milk is eaten in northern Europe.

When, after all, did a person first taste milk and begin to make butter and cheese from it? No one knows from what time it went down in history.

Fermented milk, butter and cheese were common foods of people living in the pastures of Asia with sheep and cattle thousands of years ago. There are many references to milk in the Bible. Abel son of Adam kept sheep and probably drank milk. The earliest mention of milk in the Bible is in the prophecy of Jacob, which dates back to 1700 BC. e., that Judas' teeth will become white from milk. The land of Canaan was "the land of milk and honey" in 1500 BC. e. Job often referred to cheese. In all these examples we see that milk was known long before that.

We might think that the idea of condensed and powdered milk originated in our day. In fact, as early as 1200, the Tatars prepared concentrated and, possibly, powdered milk and ate it during their campaigns led by Genghis Khan.

The first patent for the production of condensed milk was issued in 1856, and this product was widely used during the Civil War.

Cow's milk contains 87% water, as well as the daily intake of calcium, protein and vitamins A and B necessary for a person.

What myth gave rise to the popular expression meaning window dressing?

In 1787, Catherine II, with her retinue and representatives of foreign courts, made a six-month journey through New Russia and the Crimea, recaptured from the Ottoman Empire, which were ruled by Prince Potemkin. A few years later, publications began to appear abroad about the so-called Potemkin villages - allegedly, on the route of the empress, fake structures were erected, where prosperous peasants lived and worked, and after passing all this was curtailed. Today, most historians consider these reports to be an unconfirmed myth and exaggeration, saying that if in some places real settlements were decorated with decorations, this was not a secret for the participants in the procession. Nevertheless, the expression "Potemkin village" as a synonym for window dressing has become entrenched in many languages of the world.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Smartphones destroy the psyche 19.03.2018

Due to constant calls and alerts, stress hormones are activated, resulting in a protective “fight or flight” reaction.

Experts found that 89% of students in the United States of America complained about "phantom" vibrating alerts, even when the phone is turned off. Also, 86% of American citizens complained that they constantly check mail and social networks.

One of the researchers, endocrinologist Robert Lustig, explained that phone notifications force the brain to “train” to be in a near constant state of stress and fear. As a result, the prefrontal cortex of the brain, which is responsible for higher-order cognitive functions, including self-reflection, will and abstract thinking, ceases to function fully. In turn, this leads to an accumulation of stress while trying to do many different things at the same time and causes painful conditions.
