In practice, the image received by the lens is further processed into a special converter - an electronic CCD matrix, which converts the light signal into an electrical one.

CCD matrices differ in their sensitivity, which, as a rule, largely depends on the physical dimensions of the matrix and on the number of its constituent elements (resolution).

The physical dimensions of matrices are usually considered in inches, and in household cameras they are usually 1/4 or 1/6 inch, in the "very-most" top models there are also matrices from the professional world - 1/3 inch.

So it is accepted that the resolution is measured in pixels. The ratio here is simple: the more elements of the matrix are involved in the formation of the image, the clearer the picture will be.

Therefore, manufacturing companies increase its value every year, and where since 2000 the megapixel (over 1 pixels) milestone has been overcome.

However, this rule (dependence of quality on the number of pixels) operates within the ratio with the size and sensitivity of the matrix.

In any matrix, some of the elements remain passive, therefore, when calculating the sensitivity of a matrix, it is desirable to know the number of its effective pixels.

Progressive-scan CCDs found in top models are of the best quality.

Well, of course, one matrix is good, but three is better.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The allure of pizza 29.08.2020

Scientists from the University of Michigan conducted a study according to which pizza actually causes a kind of addiction.

Pizza ingredients are the best combination of fats, carbohydrates and salt - this is what the body is looking for and which activates the brain circuit responsible for reward. Among the other ingredients of one of the most popular dishes in the world is the milk protein casein. During digestion, it releases caseomorphins, which act on the receptors for dopamine, the hormone of pleasure and reward, and increase its production.

In addition to these purely chemical processes, scientists also talk about the psychological aspects that attract people to pizza. Its aroma and colors also evoke pleasant experiences, and the process of eating it is often associated with an equally pleasant stay in the company of friends.

As a result, pizza, according to the researchers, is in the first place among addictive foods - as if it were a grocery drug. According to this indicator, it bypasses products such as chocolate, chips, ice cream and cookies.
