When making videos, you often need to add sound to them, for example, just background music. The question of where to get it may seem strange at first glance. After all, the Internet is full of music, the same torrents loved by many are only worth something. However, this is not quite the same.

If we talk about home shooting or other video that no one will see except your family and a narrow circle of friends, then, in principle, you can not think too much and use any music that you like. But another thing is the videos that you want to publish on the Internet for public viewing. And even more so videos of a commercial type, such as descriptions or demonstrations of some products. In this case, obviously, any music cannot be used.

Where can you get music that you can legally use for free? Legal means legal. For example, a purchased music CD does not give you the right to publish and broadcast the music, because you only paid for the opportunity to listen to it privately. Downloaded music, even if not from a pirated resource, but simply from some dubious site where the authorship and terms of use of the music are not clearly stated, is also not an option.

Unfortunately, there are not so many special sites with free music for legal use and it can be difficult to find them. Searches for queries such as "free music" only return "garbage", which is clearly not suitable for solving the issue raised. In order to get at least some acceptable results, it is better to specify the queries as much as possible, for example, like this: "music under a free license" or "free music".

Here are a few sites that are clearly worth checking out:

  • musopen.org - Lots of classics, all absolutely free for any use.
  • jamendo.com - a lot of music of all directions, you can listen to everything for free, but use it only selectively. Fortunately, there is a convenient filter.
  • Free music on Wikipedia (http://wlm.org.ua/?pk_campaign=Centralnotice) - useful information, links.

When searching for free music, one often comes across the mention of the Creative Commons (CC) license. It is under this license that various works are most often published for public access, including music, texts, photographs. In any case, it will not hurt to find the link to the license itself in order to make sure that the use of certain copyrighted materials is legal.

It is important to know here that this license may be slightly different:

  • CC-BY - You are allowed to copy, distribute, display, modify and develop your own works based on the original, provided that its authorship is mentioned. However, the result may be distributed under a different license.
  • CC-NC (Non-commercial) - Permission is granted to copy, distribute, display and modify, but only for non-commercial purposes.
  • CC-ND (No Derivative Works) - it is forbidden to make derivative works.
  • CC-SA (Share Alike) - distribution, copying and modification of a work is permitted on the condition that the modified works will be distributed under the same free license.

What else can help? In the Google search engine in the advanced search (http://google.com/advanced_search?hl=en), you can make requests specifying the type of license, in particular, you can search for materials that are allowed to be used, including for commercial purposes.

Probably it is not necessary to say that when using any music, its authorship should be indicated. This is usually done in the credits. First of all, these are good manners and gratitude to the author, but often the corresponding requirements can be spelled out in the license.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Asbestos disposal 14.03.2010

Asbestos, which until relatively recently was widely used in construction, is hazardous to health - its finest fibers, once in the air, can eventually cause a tumor in the lungs. Therefore, all over the world it is necessary to demolish or reconstruct structures that were once built using asbestos. For example, in France, 25-40 million tons of asbestos and asbestos cement will have to go somewhere.

Now there are two ways to neutralize a dangerous mineral: bury it in a landfill or burn it with plasma burners so that the thin fibers fuse into a glassy mass and lose their ability to fly through the air.

Engineers from the Higher School of Chemistry and Technology in Toulouse (France) dissolve asbestos cement in heated hydrochloric acid. The result is a mixture of harmless (and even necessary for some industries) salts of magnesium, calcium, silicon, iron and aluminum and carbon dioxide.

All of this has commercial value. Burial of a ton of asbestos waste costs 330 euros, plasma treatment costs 1500 euros, and neutralization with hydrochloric acid, on the contrary, brings a profit of 1000 euros per ton.
