You deal a row of fifteen cards from the top of the deck, which are placed face down on the table. It seems to the audience that you take the first cards that come across, but in fact the first 10 cards are stacked according to the system: one ten, then a nine, then an eight, etc. up to and including the ace. Suits don't matter. The eleventh card must be a completely blank card (this is a spare card that is available in any deck). If there is no such card in your deck, then a jack can take its place. When 15 cards are laid out, they will lie in the following order:

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, *, *, *, *

Asterisks mean any cards. The fact that the cards are laid out in accordance with the system, the audience will not notice. You say that you will now leave the room, and the spectators, during your absence, can take a known number of cards (no more than 10) from the right end of the row and transfer them in the same order to the other end.

When you return, it is enough for you to turn over the eleventh card, counting from the left end. She will tell you how many cards you have dealt.

Let's give some examples. Let 2 cards be shifted from right to left. Then the original row will take the following form:

The eleventh card from the left - a deuce indicates the number of cards transferred.

Let seven cards be transferred. Then the row will look like this:

2, 1, 0, *, *, *, *, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3

As you can see, seven is in eleventh place.

If no cards are transferred, then the eleventh card will be zero, as before. When repeating the trick, you must put the cards back in the original order. Try not to let the audience notice that you are counting cards.

If desired, you can use up to 20 cards by entering any other cards on the right side of the original row.
