Focus Description:

For this trick, the performer needs an assistant. Moreover, the invitee is one of the spectators who has already helped in another trick. The performer says that he wants to thank him for the service, and, having asked what kind of wine the viewer likes the most, he offers him a glass of his favorite drink.

Having poured wine into a glass, the magician presents it to the viewer. He drinks the contents of the glass with pleasure, and when asked by the performer if he wants more, he replies that with pleasure. The performer pours him a second glass, the viewer drinks. And the spectator, quite emboldened, replies "with pleasure" to the offer to drink more. Thanking the performer for the treat, the viewer intends to leave the stage. But the performer stops him and says that, unfortunately, he should receive 10 rubles for the treat, since he took this wine from the buffet and needs to pay for it after the concert. The viewer is dismayed. He is embarrassed, he, apologizing, tells the performer that he does not have that kind of money with him.

“Then,” the performer demands, “give me back the wine you drank!”

- But it's impossible! the spectator says.

“Everything is in our hands,” the performer objects, then he takes a funnel from the table, puts it to the viewer’s ear, and asks him to put his glass to the funnel. The viewer has no choice but to obey, because he is in such an awkward position. Taking the viewer's free hand, the performer lowers it and raises it up, smiling, saying that he will now pump all the wine out of him, and then let him go. Before the magician had time to say this, wine poured from the viewer's ear through the funnel and filled the glass. When the first glass was full, the performer poured its contents into a bottle.

The spectator was about to leave, but the performer again detained him, saying that this was far from all the wine he had drunk. Then, passing the glass to the viewer, the performer again begins to work with his hand, like a pump. From the ear of the embarrassed spectator, wine again flowed in a stream through the funnel and filled the glass. The performer poured wine from a glass into a bottle. Now the bottle is full again. Putting the bottle, glass and funnel on the illusion table (Fig. 58, A), the performer tells the audience standing on the stage with a bewildered smile that he can now sit down.

Focus secret:

For focus, you need a bottle of weak wine, a glass or a glass, and preferably a glass, and a funnel. The secret of the focus lies in this funnel. It can be made of tin or colored opaque plastic. The shape of the funnel is the most common, but its walls are double. They are tightly connected in the upper, wide part of the funnel, and to its narrow side, to the neck, they are hollow. The distance between the walls at the top of the funnel is greater than at the neck, as shown in Fig. 58, B.

On the outer wall of the funnel, on its wide part, near the handle, there is a small hole, which is easily closed with the fingertip of the performer. Therefore, the diameter of this hole must be determined by the magician himself. Before demonstrating the trick, the opening of the funnel is closed with a small cork, which should not be noticeable, and the funnel between the walls is filled with wine. The dimensions of the funnel and the distance between the walls are calculated by the performer, based on the capacity of the glass. The secret funnel must hold at least two glasses of drink. But in no case should it be made bulky, with a large distance between the walls, so that the audience does not notice the secret.

When the props for the trick are ready, they are placed on the illusion table: a bottle of wine is next to the glass, and behind them is a secret funnel, neck up. Then you can start demonstrating focus. The magician invites one of the spectators to the stage. He wonders what kind of wine he likes best. What he will answer does not matter, the performer offers him to drink this particular wine. The viewer is embarrassed, but agrees nonetheless. The performer pours him a glass of wine (it can be full), and the viewer drinks it. The performer then asks if the wine was enjoyed; the viewer answers in the affirmative. Then the performer fills the glass again and offers, without hesitation, to drink more. Then the performer pours the glass for the third time, and the viewer, quite emboldened, drinks it with great pleasure.

And when he wants to leave the stage, the performer starts to "play" him. As it turns out, the viewer has nothing to pay for the treat, and the performer undertakes to pump wine out of him. If the viewer offers money, the performer can say that he was joking and prefers to return the wine in kind.

He takes a secret funnel and, having shown it to the audience, puts it under his partner's left ear, and asks him to hold a glass with his left hand under the neck of the funnel. Then the performer takes the viewer's right hand and makes several swinging movements with it. At this time, with the index finger of the right hand, with which the performer holds the funnel, he pulls out the cork from the secret hole, and the wine between the walls flows into the glass under air pressure and fills it (Fig. 58, D).

As soon as the glass is filled, the performer closes the hole with the same index finger, and the flow of wine immediately stops. After pouring the contents of the glass into the bottle, the performer repeats this procedure again. The effect is extraordinary, as it seems that the wine actually flows from the ear of the discouraged viewer. When the wine in the secret funnel dries up, the performer puts the props on the illusion table and thanks the viewer, who endured this test so steadfastly, for participating in the trick.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Disinfection in a bowl 08.11.2003

Chinese biochemist Hong Sanwu, who works at the University of Alberta (Canada), has found a way to disinfect food that can be contaminated with pathogenic bacteria right in the plate.

If you had to have a bite to eat in a not-so-clean eatery and you are afraid of food poisoning, it is enough to sprinkle your portion with a powder that has neither taste nor smell, and you can safely start eating. The miraculous remedy is essentially an egg powder made from eggs obtained from laying hens, which were previously injected with E. coli and salmonella - microorganisms that most often become the culprits of food poisoning.

Immunity passes into the yolk of eggs of vaccinated laying hens. The immunoglobulin contained in such a yolk does not kill bacteria, but deprives them of the ability to stick to the walls of the human intestine. They pass through the intestines without having time to multiply and cause harm.
