Focus Description:

The performer shows the audience a regular paper label and hands it over to the viewer for verification. The second viewer is invited to check the lace. The label and lace are common in every way. The magician threads the string through the small standard hole on the tag. Then he hands each of the volunteers one of the ends of the lace, causing the lace to stretch and a label hanging from it. The magician covers the label and string with a handkerchief. Putting his hands under the handkerchief, he magically removes the tag from the lace, without damaging either the lace or the tag! The spectators stand, holding a string stretched between them, not understanding how what they just witnessed could happen.

Focus secret:

For this trick, you need to make some small labels out of cardboard (it's best to use cardboard from old folders). The labels should measure approximately 7,5x4 cm. Give the cartons the look of labels by cutting the top corners at a 45° angle and poke a small hole in the top. The result is a piece of cardboard that resembles a standard luggage tag in all but one way. On standard tags, the material around the opening is reinforced to prevent the tag from pulling away from the lanyard that ties it to luggage. It is this difference that makes the focus possible. You will also need a string about half a meter long, which you will place on the table next to one of the labels you have made. Put a handkerchief in your left pocket, and a label, an exact copy of the one lying on the table, in the right sleeve of your jacket. The audience should not notice that you have something up your sleeve.

1. When starting the trick, ask the audience for help by inviting two volunteers to the stage. Pass the label to one spectator for verification, and the lace to another. When they check them and make sure that there is no catch in the props, thread the string through the hole in the label.

2. Ask one spectator to take one end of the lace in his hand, and the second spectator to take the other end of the lace. They stretch the string, in the middle of which hangs a label.

3. Remove a handkerchief from your pocket, show that there is nothing in it, and cover the label and the middle of the lace with it. Make sure you unfold the handkerchief enough so that it completely hides the hands wound under it. After that, put both hands under the handkerchief and grab the label near the hole with them.

4. Carefully tear the label up to the hole. Then remove it from the lace.

5. It is advisable to lift the handkerchief slightly above the cord with your hands, because in this case the audience will not catch the movement that you make under the handkerchief.

6. With the fingers of your right hand, secretly insert the torn label into the left sleeve of the jacket.

7. Then change the position of your hands so that with your left hand you can pull the whole label out of your right sleeve.

8. Remove both hands from under the handkerchief, holding the whole label in one of them. Invite viewers to look under the handkerchief and make sure you have actually removed the tag from the lace. Then offer to check both the tag, the string, and the handkerchief.
