EFFECTIVE FOCUSES AND THEIR CLUES Shrinking coin. Focus Secret Directory / Spectacular tricks and their clues Focus Description: The magician borrows a ring from one spectator and a half dollar coin from another. He asks these two volunteers to assist him on stage during the trick. One spectator stands to his right, the second - to his left. The magician takes out a handkerchief from his pocket. A half dollar is placed in the center of the handkerchief Focus secret: This trick requires an ordinary handkerchief, an ordinary half dollar coin and an ordinary finger ring and your ability to perform this trick. No special preparation is required. This trick can be shown at any time. 1. Borrow half a dollar and a ring from the audience. You will also need two assistants, ask those who lent you the coin and the ring for this service. 2. Take a handkerchief out of your pocket and show the audience the coin. Then wrap the coin in the center of the handkerchief using the technique described in the "Coin Through the Handkerchief" trick. You are already familiar with the trick that turns a coin wrapped in a handkerchief out of the handkerchief. For spectators, the coin is inside the handkerchief. Follow the Coin Through Handkerchief procedure until step 10, then stop. Do not "penetrate" the coin through the fabric. 3. Hold the handkerchief with both hands as shown. Make sure that the side of the handkerchief that was facing you in focus Coin through the handkerchief, steps 8 and 9, that is, in the place where the edge of the coin can be seen, is at the fingers of the left hand so that the audience does not notice that the coin is actually actually not inside, but outside the handkerchief. 4. Now invite the viewer to stretch the four corners of the handkerchief through the ring. When he does this, you are holding the coin through the cloth. You also need to hold the handkerchief over the coin with your right hand so that the handkerchief does not unwind: because of this, the coin may be noticed. 5. When the ends of the handkerchief are threaded into the ring, ask the viewer to bring the ring down until it sits snugly on the coin. As a result, the coin will be held in place and the handkerchief will not unwind. 6. Invite the audience to grasp the four corners of the handkerchief. They should keep the scarf parallel to the floor. The coin and the ring are located under the handkerchief. 7. Note. The whole procedure is perceived by the spectators as follows: you placed the borrowed coin under the handkerchief, then the spectator passed the ends of the handkerchief into his own ring and thereby locked the coin in the handkerchief. Since the coin is much larger than the hole in the ring, it is obvious to everyone that the coin cannot pass through the ring. 8. You put both hands under the stretched handkerchief. Grasp the ring with the thumb and forefinger of your left hand. Pull the ring up slightly on the scarf so that the fabric under the ring is not so tight. Now you can take the coin out of the handkerchief with your right hand. 9. Important note. From now on, until the coin "passes" through the ring (step 17), hold the center of the handkerchief with your left hand so that the audience does not guess that you have taken the coin. 10. Under the handkerchief, secretly transfer the coin to the position of the palm-fingers in the right hand. Next, the middle and ring fingers of the right hand hold the coin in the palm, and the index and thumb pull the ring off the handkerchief and pass it to the left hand, where you hold it with the ring finger and little finger. 11. Note. As indicated in step 9, continue to hold the fabric of the handkerchief with the thumb and forefinger of your left hand so that the audience does not guess that both the coin and the ring have already been removed by you. 12. Removing the right hand from under the handkerchief with the coin hidden in the Palm-Fingers position, bring the right hand exactly over the center of the handkerchief. 13. The next operation is the most important: the right hand secretly drops the coin into the center of the handkerchief, into the "Well", which, according to the audience, is formed by a ring and a coin. Under the handkerchief, the fingers of the left hand open for a moment so that the coin slips into the "well". 14. When you actually do this operation, the hand should be resting directly on the fabric of the handkerchief at the moment the coin is dropped. 15. When the coin falls into the "well", the fingers of the left hand part, receive it, and then close again with the cloth and the coin between them. The audience sees that the scarf looks exactly the same as before. Your right hand moves over the handkerchief in order to smooth out the creases. This smoothing motion is a maneuver that distracts from your true actions and is performed both before and after the flip of the coin. 16. Note. At this moment, the ring borrowed from the viewer is clamped with the ring finger and little finger of the left hand under the handkerchief. The coin is now above the handkerchief in the "well". The thumb and forefinger of the left hand hold the fabric of the handkerchief and the coin through it: the audience thinks that you held the coin in this way from the very beginning. 17. The left hand continues to hold the coin and the ring, and you invite the audience to gently pull on the four corners of the handkerchief. Releasing the fingers of your left hand, let the coin slowly emerge from the "well" in the center of the handkerchief. To viewers, the appearance of the coin will look like the coin is passing through a ring that is much smaller in diameter than the coin. 18. When the coin is completely out of the handkerchief, and the handkerchief is smoothly stretched by two spectators, slowly and dramatically present the ring with your left hand. Drop it next to the coin on the stretched cloth. The effect is double: the coin passed through the ring, which is much smaller than it in diameter, and the coin released the ring from the handkerchief. Now you can hand over all the props: ring, coin and handkerchief for verification and thank the viewers for their help. You have met with a brilliant version of the Coin through a handkerchief trick. Particularly effective is the replacement of the “penetration” of the coin through the fabric by the “passage” of the coin through the ring. The stretched handkerchief forms an excellent cover when you move the coin into the palm of your hand and remove the ring from the handkerchief, and thus allows you to work close to the audience. You can show such a trick at any time, all the props are borrowed and can be presented for verification. In particular, you can perform this trick in a company sitting at a low coffee table, first spreading a handkerchief on the table. If demonstrating it in front of a large group, ask the audience to hold the handkerchief slightly tilted towards the audience. This position of the handkerchief will provide a good cover for your actions and has a natural "for everyone to see" explanation.
