Focus Description:

In the hands of the performer is a small piece of red wire. He invites one of the spectators to the stage and invites him to put on the middle of the wire a wedding ring, but "slightly larger in diameter (Fig. 47, A).

"Hold tight and don't let go of the rings," the performer tells him.

The magician connected both ends of the wire, keeping them parallel and together. Then, saying: "One, two, three," he quickly moved the wire and, without letting go of its ends, released the ring, which the viewer still holds firmly.

Focus secret:

The props of the focus consist of a piece of colored wire of round cross section with a diameter of 2-3 mm, a length of 50 cm, a metal ring with a diameter of 1,5-2 cm and two beads, painted to match the wire, with a through hole equal to the diameter of the wire. The beads are put on the wire, and knots are tied at both ends so that the beads do not jump off (Fig. 47, B).

The performer takes the ends of the wire - one in the left, the other in the right hand so that each of them has a bead next to the knot. Stretches the wire horizontally, showing that it is completely intact. Then he invites one of the spectators as an assistant and invites him to put the ring on the wire from either end. When the ring is in the middle of the wire, the performer once again shows it stretched, then asks the viewer to take hold of the ring and hold it tightly without releasing it.

Now the performer folds the wire in half. Its center, together with the ring, is in the viewer's hand, the ends of the wire, connected and stretched in parallel, are in the performer's hand (Fig. 47, B). He holds them with the index and thumb of his left hand for both beads. And with his right hand, grasping the knot at one end of the wire, he quickly pulls it towards himself. The right end of the wire is lengthened, and the left end with beads is shortened and slides to the ring.

As soon as the beads come close to the ring, the fingers of the left hand holding them release the first bead along with the knot at the end, continuing to hold only the second bead. The free end with a bead and a knot will easily slip through the ring and release it (Fig. 47, E). The ring will remain with the viewer. And both ends of the wire will still be in the hands of the performer.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Brain without immunity 02.11.2015

Disease or damage to the brain is the subject of much modern research and invention. One of the latest is a flexible sensor that senses touch and, like skin, sends electrical impulses to the brain. Moreover, the stronger the pressure on the "digital skin", the greater the speed of the pulses becomes.

The difference between this device and its predecessors is its ability to transmit electrical impulses directly to the brain in a format understandable to our gray matter. Existing sensors embedded in artificial or "digital" skin have already demonstrated their impressive capabilities in working with the brain. However, a computer or processor was required to translate their touch signal into the desired format. The new device dispenses with an external processor by using a built-in printed electronic circuit that processes the signal at the moment of touching the "skin" and immediately sends it to the brain in the desired format.

However, the secrets of the brain have not been revealed, not only to the end, but also to any significant extent. For example, the concept of a cure for schizophrenia remains a subject of controversy because there is no generally accepted definition of the concept. What can we say about prevention! However, thanks to the efforts of scientists from the Clinical Sciences Center of the UK Medical Research Council, there is hope in patients suffering from this disease. Studies have found overactive immune systems in such patients, and in addition, increased activity was observed in patients at high risk of schizophrenia.

Suspicions fell on microglia, a specialized class of glial cells in the central nervous system that are phagocytes that destroy infectious agents and destroy nerve cells. This last property of microglia, more precisely, its ability to destroy connections between brain cells for the general protection of the body, leads, according to scientists, to the formation of incorrect connections in the brain, which causes schizophrenia. The researchers plan to test weak anti-inflammatory drugs on patients that would help the immune system cope with its functions more easily without destroying nerve connections.
