Large silk flag on a folding nickel-plated flagpole (flag stick).

Focus secret:

The secret of the trick lies in the design of the flagpole. It is made like a photo tripod leg. One wide tube includes four more, smaller in diameter; the final inner tube contains a thick five-millimeter nickel-plated copper rod with a heavy copper decoration on a pike cone.

The folded flagpole is shown in Fig. 166, B; at the bottom left is visible a curved plate B, which serves as a stopper for the internal rod with a lance; its lower end with a small ball screwed to it passes through the bottom embedded in the outer tube, and here it is pinched by spring B; if you press it with your hand when the flag is quickly removed, the spring moves forward to the right and releases the middle rod. With a sharp wave of the hand, the lance with the rod is thrown upward by centrifugal force, and behind it the rest of the tubes fly up; the flag, mounted on a stick and rings, is stretched, and a huge fluttering cloth is obtained.

Spring B is shown separately on the side, in Fig. 166, B; plate g is attached to the bottom; it has cutouts that keep the rod locked; When you press the spring with your hand, the ball is released, which easily passes through the hole into the thinnest tube, dragging it along with it. There are stoppers in the thin-walled copper tubes that prevent them from jumping out.

A flag is attached to the flagpole, which is folded compactly and secured with a thin rubber ring to the flagpole. All this equipment is hidden under the side of the suit (on the left). When turning the body, they sharply and imperceptibly grab the flag with their right hand and throw the device forward with the pike; under its weight, all the tubes will come out, which will stop the stoppers.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Olympus Tough TG-870 rugged camera 23.03.2016

The Japanese company Olympus has launched a new compact rugged camera series Tough - Olympus Tough TG-870 - with unique selfie capabilities in any conditions, even underwater.

The camera is protected in all respects: it can be immersed in water to a depth of 15 meters, thrown from a height of 2,1 meters, used at temperatures down to -10 ° C, the body also withstands a pressure of 100 kg and is dust resistant.

As for technical features, the Tough TG-870 has a wide-angle zoom lens with a focal length range of 21-105mm EGF, a 3-inch swivel display and a 16-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor.

The unique 5-axis stabilization system allows you to take sharp pictures even in low light conditions that require slow shutter speeds. 13 artistic filters will help you to decorate your shots.

From the unusual - the camera is perfectly equipped for selfies. Firstly, the screen rotates 180°, which makes taking selfies especially easy. Secondly, the shutter button is duplicated on the front panel, which will allow you to hold the camera in the way that is convenient for you.

In addition to photos, the camera allows you to shoot video in Full-HD at 60 frames per second in progressive scan. By the way, due to the fact that its body is protected from water ingress, it will be possible to shoot amazing videos (and photos, however, too) from the underwater depths.
