Focus Description:

Tricks with flowers are usually very successful. Such numbers performed by women look most impressive. Making folding flowers is quite difficult. We will talk about the simplest model. A flower made according to this method seems large, lush and beautiful (Fig. 24, A). The whole model consists of a flower made of thin colored tissue paper, two green sheets of the same paper, a spring that opens the flower and keeps it in this form, and a thread tied to the ring of the spring.

Focus Simple folding flower pattern
Fig. 24

Cut out circles with a diameter of 15 cm each from floral thin paper. The number of them is determined by the number of colors needed. We recommend that you immediately make a training model out of plain white paper and use it to make all the flowers.

Break each circle into 16 sectors (Fig. 24, B). The circle itself is shown in dotted lines, and in thick lines - the edges of the flower, which should be folded inward; thin lines indicate faces that bend outward (for greater clarity, we give a schematic drawing of a flower, its top view is Fig. 24, B). The edges that fold outward are marked with the numbers 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The numbers 1 and 2 show those parts of the flower that will be glued to the leaves. Each of these parts contains two sectors of the circle (see Fig. 24, B). Having folded the flower along its curved edges according to scheme B, its wavy ends should be trimmed. It is possible not to cut out a wavy line, but, having folded the circle into sectors, do it with scissors at once in one step, which is much easier and simpler.

Having made a flower and folded it, glue springs made from a thin balalaika string to the outside of sectors 1 and 2 with a narrow strip of strong paper. The shape of such a spring is shown in Fig. 24, D, where its half is depicted with a ring for tying a thread and part of the other half. Loops are made at the ends of the spring, they hold the flower better. When folding the spring with the flower, the ring tends to straighten the spring into a straight line and thereby open the flower.

A sheet of green paper is glued to the flower on top of the strips. Now it remains only to tie a thread to the ring, which will help to make a bouquet of the right size from the flowers and prevent them from falling apart.

Thin clock springs can be used instead of wire springs, but this is more difficult to do. You need to release the hardening of the spring, cut it in half lengthwise, leaving a small piece intact. Then pull the two segments into one straight line and harden them. Such a spring is shown in Fig. 24, D. For a large bouquet, 20 flowers are enough. It is better to make them different in color.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

S2-LP - 433/868 MHz narrowband transceiver 11.03.2017

S2-LP is a new 433/868 MHz transceiver from STMicroelectronics, designed to create cost-sensitive IoT devices, but at the same time with high requirements for radio communication quality and consumption.

To what extent this was done can be assessed by looking at the impressive technical characteristics of the new microcircuit. The receiver sensitivity starts from -130 dBm, while the developer can work with a path bandwidth from one kilohertz. The output power is adjustable over a wide range - from -30 dBm to +16 dBm in 1 dBm steps. Thanks to the new class E amplifier, the current consumption at 10mW output power is only 10mA, while in receive mode the consumption is within 7mA. The microcircuit is the best in its class in terms of consumption in transmit mode.

Reducing the current draw of internal RF components often leads to reduced RF performance. However, the S2-LP transceiver performs well both in terms of link budget (> 140 dB RF link budget) and selectivity. Adjacent channel selectivity is 68 dB (@+-12.5 kHz), blocking is better than 80 dB at 2 MHz offset (@433 MHz)

The S2-LP transceiver can work with any external microcontroller. Control is performed in the most familiar way - via SPI with interrupts through customizable GPIO0 ... GPIO3 lines. To work with STM32 microcontrollers, there is a library and a set of examples for STM32Cube.

Features of the S2-LP transceiver:

Narrowband transceiver 430 - 470 / 860-940 MHz
Output power up to +-16 dBm; Sensitivity up to -130 dBm
Air data rate 0.3 - 500 kbps
Modulation types 2-FSK, 2-GFSK, 4-FSK, 4-GFSK, OOK, and ASK
Low consumption in active mode:
6,7mA RX
10mA TX @ +10dBm
Sleep Consumption 600nA (with timer)
Fast wakeup and fast synth setup time
Automatic retries and confirmations
Suitable for Wireless M-Bus systems; 802.15.4g
Case 4x4 mm QFN
Operating temperature -40...+85 °C
