Focus Description:

You have a cane in your hands. Show it to the audience. Rest your left hand on it. It can be seen that the cane is durable. Now quickly lift it up. And on the floor of the stage, in the place where the cane rested ... a whole bush of flowers blooms.

Focus Cane and flowers

Focus secret:

You guessed it, of course, that the flowers were hidden in the cane. Make a cane out of a thin-walled metal tube. Its height is 1 m, and its diameter is about 40 mm. The top end of the tube must be internally threaded so that the handle of the cane can be screwed in. The lower end of the tube is open.

Attach flower stems to a steel rod and mask it with green feathers or flowers. There should be a thread for the nut on the bottom of the rod. The protruding end of the rod must be sharpened so that it easily sticks into the wooden flooring of the stage.

A bush of flowers should easily enter the tube and just as easily exit it, opening up magnificently.

Now let's "load" the flowers into the tube. Unscrew the handle of the cane. Tie a strong thread to the end of the flower rod and pull it through the tube, as if "through wool". Now you need to untie the thread and screw the nut onto the lower end of the rod. Fit it close to the tube. Screw on the handle - and the cane is ready.

It remains to explain how the flower bush will appear on the stage.

When you press hard with the handle of the cane on the rod, its tip plunges deep into the boardwalk of the stage. When you quickly lift the cane up, the flowers open, freeing themselves from the pipe. And the flowers themselves can be made from pieces of plastic or paper.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

6 handshakes or 19 clicks 25.02.2013

The Hungarian physicist Albert-Laszlo Barashi adapted the theory of "six handshakes" to the web. He claims that on the Internet, a "path" between two pages takes a maximum of 19 "clicks".

This rule (then - the principle of six levels of separation) was formulated in 1929 in the story of the Hungarian science fiction writer Fridesh Karinti "Links of the chain". In it, the heroes were asked to experimentally prove "that the inhabitants of the Earth are now much closer to each other than ever before." Then came the number six. It is not known whether this was a guess of a talented writer, or he relied on some unknown sources, but the number turned out to be correct. Indeed, starting from the first experiments in 1969 and ending with large-scale studies of the 90s of the last century, the fact was repeatedly confirmed that any two people - residents of different countries, are separated on average by only five levels of mutual acquaintances (and, accordingly, six levels of connections). ). Now the researchers claim that from any web page you can go to the right one in just 19 "clicks".

It is obvious that although many pages, at first glance, are almost unrelated to each other, search engines and aggregators form powerful connecting nodes between them. This makes it obvious how vulnerable the web is: removing only a small portion of the connecting nodes will practically devastate the network.
