Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Biometric authentication for PC 06.12.2015

Many laptop models, especially those designed for use in the corporate segment, have a built-in fingerprint sensor that allows you to use it as a means of authentication when logging in. Biometric sensors have their drawbacks, but they are overshadowed by one huge advantage for users - there is no need to remember a long, meaningless, and in some cases even a password regularly changed by the security department.

Ratoc has introduced the SREX-FSU3 device, which can provide similar functionality to a regular desktop PC. The start of sales of new items is scheduled for mid-March 2016, it will cost around $145. It has a fairly advanced optical sensor with depth perception, having a resolution of 508 dpi and recognizing 256 shades of gray. The dimensions of the working surface are 14 x 3 millimeters, so swiping a finger is used for reading, and not simply applying it, as, for example, in the iPhone 6.

The SREX-FSU3 will connect to a PC using a normal USB interface; Guaranteed compatibility with all modern Microsoft Windows operating systems, including server versions. The device is compatible both with the biometric user identification tools built into the OS and with the OmniPass software package. The latter allows you to organize the storage of the biometric database on the server, which increases the level of security. The package will also include the corresponding SDK.

Dimensions SREX-FSU3 are only 46 x 64,5 x 13 millimeters, and the weight does not exceed 40 grams.
