Props:

A round wooden stick with a diameter of 18 mm and a length of 30 cm. The ends of the stick on both sides are 5 cm painted with white paint, the middle is black.

Metal sleeve A (fig. 19) with spring B for "shooting" the stick.

The sleeve can be made from tin or picked up from ready-made tubes with an inner diameter of 20 mm so that the stick enters freely into it. Length about 35-40 cm depending on the force of the spring. Spring B is soldered to the bottom B and in a free state should reach the upper edge of the sleeve. A small metal circle G is soldered to the upper end of the spring - an emphasis for the stick, and on the side are the ears L, in which the trigger E swings freely. If you press its outer end, then the other end, bent and passed inside the sleeve, will release the stick D. She is under the pressure of a spring 3. arranged in the form of a safety pin. This spring presses the trigger and forces its bent end to enter the sleeve through the hole G. An eyelet And is also soldered to the sleeve for the convenience of attaching it to a table or other objects.

Focus secret:

Case A is loaded with stick D and fastened securely to the table so that it cannot be seen by the spectators. At the right moment, the performer imperceptibly presses the trigger and the wand flies out of the sleeve with lightning speed, and the magician picks it up on the fly (Fig. 20). You can tie a strong thread to trigger E, passing it through ring C, put the end of the thread on the table and attach it to some object. By touching this object, you thereby pull the trigger E, and the wand will fly up.

You need to practice to catch a stick well on the fly.

If desired, the sleeve can be placed inside the trousers on the left side and attach the eyelet And to the upper seam of the trousers. With this method, it is only necessary, having approached the table, to lightly press the trigger, as the wand will fly out. The jacket must be unbuttoned, then the wand will fly out freely under the cover of the left floor of the jacket. The performer at this moment should stand with his left side to the audience.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The development of 5G cellular networks is financed by the European Union 08.03.2013

Despite the rapid growth of 4G (LTE) cellular networks, they are not yet available everywhere. The leaders in the promotion of new generation technology are the United States and Asian countries. Meanwhile, the Europeans are full of desire not only to catch up, but also to seize the championship in this area. This is evidenced by the decision of the European Commission to allocate funds for research aimed at creating 5G networks.

The amount of the grant is small - 50 million euros, but we are still talking about the initial stage of work. The European Union hopes that 5G networks will become a reality by 2020. About 16 million of this amount will go to the METIS alliance, led by Ericsson. The members of the alliance expect to create networks that are 10-100 times larger than modern ones in terms of capacity, 10-100 times faster than them and characterized by delays 5 times less.

Developments that are more or less related to the creation of 5G networks are the topics of other European research projects, such as 5GNOW, iJOIN, TROPIC, Mobile Cloud Networking, COMBO, MOTO and PHYLAWS.
