Focus Description:

The magician takes the handkerchief by opposite corners and spins it like a child's jump rope until it is properly twisted. The rolled scarf is hung on the outstretched index finger of the viewer's right hand, as shown in Fig. 10.

Having wrapped the scarf around his finger, the demonstrator asks the viewer to place the left index finger on the right, after which the scarf is tightly wrapped around both fingers (see below, Fig. 11-16).

Then the demonstrator, holding the index finger of the viewer’s right hand by the tip (Fig. 17), asks him to pull out the other (upper) index finger from the scarf.

After this, the person showing pulls the ends of the scarf up and the scarf is freely pulled off the finger remaining in it, as if cutting it.

Focus secret:

Although in this trick it seems that the scarf securely tightens both fingers, in reality, with this method of tying, the right index finger remains outside the loop formed by the scarf. It's done like this.

1. Cross the ends of the scarf under your finger (Fig. 11). Notice that the end marked with the letter L is located (at the crossing point) closer to you than end B. This must be the case in all further operations, otherwise the trick will not work.

2. Lift the ends of the handkerchief up (fig. 12) and cross them there.

3. Ask the spectator to place the index finger of his left hand on the intersection (Fig. 13).

4. Cross the ends of the scarf at the top, making sure that end A is closer to you (Fig. 14).

5. Pull the ends down and cross them there [(Fig. 15).

6. Raise the ends up again and take them in your left hand (Fig. 16). Now it will seem that the fingers are securely tightened.

7. Pinch the end of your lower index finger.

Ask the spectator to extend their other index finger. Pull the scarf up and it will freely come off the finger remaining in it (Fig. 17).
