Focus Description:

The magician asks for the assistance of two male volunteers and invites one of them to take off his jacket. The performer then shows the audience two ropes, each two and a half meters long, which he threads through the sleeves of a borrowed jacket.

The spectator is asked to put on his jacket while holding the ends of the ropes in his hands. The task is completed, and the spectator puts on a jacket, through the sleeves of which two ropes are threaded, the ends of which protrude from the cuffs. Then the two ropes, taking one end from each sleeve, are tied together with a simple knot at the front.

The knot is tightened. As a result, the viewer's wrists are tied and he is forcibly confined - along with ropes - in his own jacket. However, with a sharp tug on the ends of the ropes, the magician and the second spectator helping him make the ropes “penetrate” through the spectator’s body in full view and leave the jacket completely.

Focus secret:

A. To perform this seemingly incomprehensible trick, all that is required is two soft ropes, each two and a half meters long, and a small piece of white sewing thread. Lay the two ropes side by side so that the ends are flush with each other. We will mark the ropes with the letters A and B. Exactly in the center, tie both ropes with white sewing thread, that is, secretly fasten them together.

B.Note. The ropes are tied in the middle, which gives you the opportunity to separate the ends so that the two ropes still appear to be running side by side along the entire length. Now you are ready to present.

Focus The Great Jacket Escape

1. Raise two ropes with your hand and show them to the audience, holding them like this, that is, hiding the center, the place of fastening.

2. Ask the spectator to remove his jacket. While he does this, move the ropes to your left hand, turning them over a few times as you reach for your jacket with your right hand.

3. During these actions, place the fingers of your left hand between the ropes on both sides of the fastening point, and spread the ends of different ropes in different directions, that is, the two ends of rope A together on one side of the fastening point and the two ends of rope B together on the other side of the fastening point . This operation will be carried out secretly, since you will cover the center, the place of fastening, with the bent fingers of your left hand. The spectators see the same picture: you hold the center of the ropes with your left hand, from which four ends hang.

4. In Figure 4A, the hand is deliberately slightly open to show you the “secret place of fastening”. In fact, the palm should be squeezed around the center of the ropes, as shown in Figure 4B, so that no one can see the fastening point.

5. With your right hand, grab the spectator's jacket and lift it up so that you can grab the collar with your left hand, holding the center of the ropes with it. At this stage and subsequent ones, the back of the left hand is facing the audience.

6. Ask the spectator who lent you the jacket to take the ends of rope A in his right hand and put his hand into the sleeve, without releasing the ends of rope A. Your left hand still holds the center of the rope, hiding the place of fastening.

7. As soon as the spectator's hand appears from the cuff, invite him to release the ends so that the rope hangs freely from the cuff. Then move your right hand to your left and grab the center of the ropes and collar with your right hand. Having freed your left hand, use it to unfold the left side of the jacket, ask the spectator to take the other ends (B) in his hand and thread his hand into the sleeve along with the ends. Then he releases these ends, as in the first case.

8. While adjusting the jacket on the viewer, lower the center of the ropes (and the secret place where they are fastened) under the collar between the jacket and shirt, where they will disappear from view under the jacket behind the back.

9. Take in your hands one end A hanging from the right sleeve and one end B hanging from the left sleeve. Tie them together with a simple knot at the front. Now on each side of the spectator there is a pair of ends A and B together, that is, you have eliminated the "secret fastening" in the center of the ropes. Having tied the two ends, one from each sleeve, pass the left ropes (one end A and one end B) to the second spectator helping you, while you grab the other pair of ends A and B. The spectator will be between you and the second spectator.

10. At your command, you and your assistant jerk the ropes in opposite directions. With this jerk you break the secret bond. Two ropes slip out of the sleeves, completely freeing the viewer. Your volunteers will be as puzzled by the outcome as the rest of the audience.

Focus The Great Jacket Escape

Remember that you can only use soft rope for this trick. A rigid rope will not allow you to get a natural “double” center. Therefore, you should remove the core from the rope as described above. Each rope should be long enough - from two to two and a half meters - so that the ends hanging from the sleeves can be crossed. If the rope is a little longer, it doesn't matter: you can stand a little further from the second assistant when you need to break the fastening.

The thread you use to tie the ropes should be quite strong (or wrap the ropes with a simple thread, but several times) to insure against premature breakage at the fastening point.

Hold the junction firmly, in particular at the moment when the viewer threads his hands into the sleeves. Pay special attention to the viewer not to let go of the ends until they are completely threaded through the sleeves. It is not advisable to test the fastening point for strength by pulling the rope through the sleeve.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

To like people, you need to train the brain 30.09.2016

Our perception of other people can change, and for this it is not at all necessary to communicate with a person for a long time, trying to get to know him better - it is enough to exercise the brain a little in a neurobiological laboratory.

Mitsuo Kawato and colleagues from the International Institute for Advanced Telecommunications Research in Kyoto and Brown University analyzed the activity of the cingulate cortex in people who were shown other people's photographs.

The participants in the experiment had to evaluate how much they like or dislike the face in the photo, and a special algorithm searched for characteristic features in brain activity that corresponded to just such an assessment. The cingulate cortex is associated with empathy, emotions, motivations, and social relationships, among other things.

Then came the second stage, when a person was shown someone's photo, which previously seemed neutral to him, and then a disk appeared on the monitor screen. This disk had to be enlarged by an effort of will. There was no specific way, but neuroscientists monitored the activity of the brain of the one who struggled with the disk, and they themselves enlarged the figure on the screen if the brain suddenly gave the right answer. In other words, the participants in the experiment blindly searched for the right solution, but the "neutral face" that they were shown was supposed to push their thoughts in the right direction.

In some cases, the researchers enlarged the disk when the subject's brain gave a signal of sympathy, as if the person saw in front of him not a disk, but a face that he likes. In other cases, the same was done in response to a signal of antipathy, and finally, there were those who were simply asked to look at the disk without doing anything with it. Such training lasted an hour a day for three days and, in the end, brought results: those who "increased" the disk with feelings of sympathy began to like the appearance of people to whom they had previously been indifferent.

With antipathy there was the same picture, only in the other direction: initially neutral faces became slightly unpleasant. The effect was small (that is, no one developed deep sympathy and deep disgust for anyone), but it was quite reliable and, by the way, quite long-lasting: changes in emotional perception lasted at least three months.
