Focus Description:

You will need a notepad, bound at the top with a spiral. You will also need a diamond, but since we are "magicians, not musicians" use an imitation jewel. Crumple a sheet of paper from a notepad around the dummy diamond and place it in your left pocket. Open a notebook and carefully cut off the bottom of the first sheet of paper about 2,5 centimeters. Draw a diamond on the second sheet of paper. Place the notepad in your left pocket and the marker pen in your right pocket. You are ready for the demo.

Focus secret:

The magician says: “When I was still in school, my teacher kept asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I always answered “Superman”. I wanted to fly and shoot lasers from my eyes. But most of all I dreamed about being able to compress a lump of coal into a diamond! I melted all my coal last Christmas, so let's use our imagination. We'll draw some coal!"

Put both hands in your pockets. The left hand takes out a notebook, and the right hand takes out a pen - a marker. Open notepad and draw a block of coal on the first page. Then put the pen - marker on the table. With your right hand, turn the notebook towards the viewer to show the charcoal. Your right fingers are blocking the bottom edge of the notebook. Put the notepad back in your left hand and supposedly tear off the top sheet, but actually rip out the second sheet with the diamond on it. This is very easy because you have cut off the bottom of the first page. Immediately crumple a sheet of paper with your right hand and place the notepad back in your left pocket. When the left hand brings the notebook into the pocket, palm the ball of paper containing the diamond with your fingers. Take your hand out of your pocket and let it hang naturally at your side.

"If I squeeze hard enough with my Superman power, I can squeeze it into a diamond!"

Have a spectator take the crumpled piece of paper from you and open it, showing that the design has changed into a diamond. Take the sheet and crumple it into a ball again with your right hand.

"Even though I've always wanted to be Superman, my natural human desires for wealth and power have made me realize that I'm actually more like Superman's enemy Lex Luthor."

Supposedly by placing a paper ball in your left hand, you are actually performing a "Shuttle Pass" by exchanging one paper ball for another. Start squeezing with your left hand as your right hand picks up a marker off the table and carries it into your pocket, getting rid of the extra paper ball as well. Finally, unfold the piece of paper in your left hand, showing that the diamond design has now turned into a real diamond!

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The chamber is smaller than the thickness of a human hair 12.08.2021

The University of Glasgow has created a fiber optic cable as thin as a human hair that can transmit accurate XNUMXD images in real time, thus creating a tiny flexible camera.

The system developed by British scientists is several orders of magnitude smaller than the existing cameras used on fiber optic cable. The device uses a cable 40 centimeters long and 50 micrometers in diameter (the thickness of a human hair ranges from 80 to 110 microns). It can take 3D images of objects up to 2,5 meters away.

The new technique is based on the technology of extended microscopy, which is based on the method of suppression of spontaneous emission (STED), which allows achieving nanoscale resolution by overcoming the diffraction limit of optical microscopes. The development of this technique brought the author of the invention, Stefan Hell, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2014.
