Focus Description:

Two spectators are given a deck each, which they remove. Then each one counts and places twenty-six cards face down on the table, putting one half of the deck in his pocket; the other two halves of the two decks are dealt to two other spectators. These two spectators choose one card each from their decks, which they memorize and return to their half of the deck again. The magician makes the chosen cards disappear and appear in the other halves of the decks, which all this time have been in the pockets of the spectators who were the first to receive them. Half of the decks are combined with the other halves - and they turn out to be ordinary standard decks.

Focus secret:

This trick is sure to greatly puzzle your viewers. It requires two identical prepared decks.

1. To prepare the decks, arrange the cards in them in the same order. Then take twenty-six cards from the top of each deck and connect them. You have a deck of fifty-two cards, but instead of the standard fifty-two cards, you have twenty-six cards repeated twice. Also connect the bottom parts of the two standard decks to make a second deck. Note that there are fifty-two cards in each deck, but no deck has a card that would be in the other.

2. Tell the audience that you need four volunteers for the trick, preferably two boys and two girls, and ask them to stand next to you so that everyone can see what is happening.

3. Give the two prepared decks to the young men, let's call them Andrei and Mikhail. Ask them to take down the decks as many times as they want. This will not change the order of the cards, but you must make sure they don't shuffle them. Now ask everyone to count and place twenty-six cards face down on the table, and put the rest of the deck in their pocket for safekeeping. Each of the two halves of the decks on the table contains twenty-six different cards, and together they make up a complete deck. But it is, by the way.

4. Ask Andrei to take his half of the deck from the table and give it to one of the girls, let's call her Dasha, and let Mikhail give his half to another girl, let's call her Sasha.

5. Now Dasha and Sasha look at their cards, choose one and memorize it. They can show it to others, but you don't have to know what the card is. Now ask them to shuffle their decks well and then take them away from them. Tell them that you are going to make their chosen cards disappear from their decks and show up in the decks that are in the pockets of Andrey and Mikhail.

6. While saying this, you must do the only little trick required for this trick: now you will be giving Dasha and Sasha back their decks, but you will have to hide that you are actually giving Dasha Sasha's deck and vice versa.

7. So you keep talking animatedly. You take their decks from Dasha and Sasha, one in each hand. Remind the audience that Andrei and Mikhail counted twenty-six cards at random from their decks and handed them to Dasha and Sasha. Saying this, put Sasha's deck crosswise on top of Dasha's deck and take and hold them in your left hand. Ask Dasha and Sasha to choose a card from their halves of the decks and memorize them. Move both decks to your right hand. Raise them in front of the audience and remind them that these decks are half of the decks that are in the pockets of Andrei and Mikhail. Tell them, "Your halves of your decks are safe in your pockets, aren't you? You can feel around to make sure no one has been in there."

8. Now everyone has already forgotten which deck you took from Dasha, and which one from Sasha. Give Dasha and Sasha the decks, saying: "Now you can take your halves of the decks back." You must be sure that each draws a different deck, otherwise the trick will fail. Now ask Dasha which card she chose. Let's say she says it's a deuce of spades.

9. Now ask Andrey to get the cards out of his pocket to see if the deuce of spades miraculously flew there. Indeed, it has flown!

10. Ask Sasha which card she chose. Let's say she says: "The lady of diamonds." Tell Michael, "Please take the cards out of your pocket and see if there is a queen of diamonds among them." She is there!

11. Tell Dasha and Sasha: “If your cards really didn’t fly into the pockets of Andrey and Mikhail, you, Dasha, should have another two of spades in your deck, and you, Sasha, should have another queen of diamonds. Let’s see if there They". They are not there! Cards really flew from girls to boys!

12. Now say: "The decks are completely ordinary. Dasha and Andrey, would you give your halves to Grigory, and you, Sasha and Mikhail, to Dmitry. So, Grigory and Dmitry, would you count the cards to make sure that in each there are fifty-two of them in a deck, and not a single card is repeated? In other words, that the decks are absolutely standard, complete and unforged?"

13. Gregory and Dmitry confirm this. Thank them and take the decks from them. "So, ladies and gentlemen, here are two ordinary full decks. Except, of course, that the cards in them can disappear and reappear elsewhere."

Of course, the cards aren't smart enough to let you repeat the trick - you have to move on to the next one.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Ocean heat waves threaten marine life 11.03.2019

When heat hits the land, the oceans also experience peak temperatures, which translate into heatwaves. Because of global warming, they are happening much more frequently now than they did in the last century, and are hurting marine life, according to a new study by an international team of scientists.

The study looked at the impact of marine heat waves on the diversity of life in the ocean. Researchers have found that these heatwaves are disrupting the structure of many ocean ecosystems, from coral reefs to kelp to seafloor creatures.

Marine heatwaves occur when sea temperatures are significantly above normal for at least five consecutive days. Scientists have calculated that the oceans have been absorbing more than 90 percent of the heat from excess greenhouse gases since the middle of the century. Humans add these gases to the atmosphere mainly by burning fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas.

This excess heat increases not only basic ocean temperatures, but also the frequency and duration of marine heatwaves, which are detrimental to all organisms living in the water.
