Focus Description:

A spectator shuffles the deck. The magician then fans out the deck to select two aces, which are dealt to two spectators. The magician deals the deck face down until the first spectator says stop. He places his Ace face up on the stack, the magician puts the deck back together and repeats the operation - now the second spectator places his Ace face up at the place on the deck where he said "stop". The magician deals a deck down to two face-up aces, each time predicting which card lies above the ace.

Focus secret:

1. Hand the deck to one of the spectators and ask them to shuffle it. When you take it back, say: “I need two marker cards, let it be a pair of aces.” Fan out the cards, take two aces and place them face up on the table. As you do this, notice and remember the top and bottom cards of the deck. Let it be the six of clubs on top and the king of hearts on the bottom. No one else should see the bottom card of the deck. Hand the aces to two spectators - let's call them Yakov and Evgeniya.

2. Holding the deck face down in your left hand, begin dealing cards with your right hand face down on the table. Ask Jacob to stop you at any time. When he does this, let him place his Ace face up on the top of the pile; then place the remaining cards from your hand on top of the stack, face down. Put the entire deck back together and tell the audience that you are going to predict two cards where Jacob and Eugenia say stop. Start dealing the cards face down on the table again, asking Eugenia to say “stop” at any time. When she does this, ask her to place the Ace face up on the top of the stack. Place the rest of the deck cards face down on top again.

It may happen that the second person you ask to say "stop", in our case Evgenia, wants to confuse you and will give you the cards behind the upside down ace. It doesn't matter, but at the end, when you fan through the cards to the first ace, you should change your comment slightly. The first ace will now be the next card after Eugenia's card, so you will need to start there. Say, "Eugenia, I think you've stopped me on the King of Hearts" and, as before, make a stack from your right hand face up. The top card will be the King of Hearts. Place the Ace next to it and scroll through the deck to the second Ace. This time there will be a Jacob card underneath it. Now place the cards from your right hand face down on the table. Remove the face-up ace from the top of the stack in your left hand, place it on the table and say: “Jacob, you stopped me at the six of clubs,” turn over the top card in your left hand - it will be the six of clubs.

If Eugenia decides to completely confuse you and says "stop" as soon as Jacob's ace is placed on the table, so much the better. Have her place her Ace on top of Jacob's Ace and place the rest of the deck on top. Say, "You thought you'd confuse me by cutting the deck in the same place. But that trick doesn't work. I think you both put your aces between the six of clubs and the king of hearts." Build the deck, flip down to two aces, and deal the stack in your right hand face up on the table, revealing the king of hearts. Take the two aces from the top of the pile in your left hand, place them on the table and then turn over the top card of the “left” pile: it will be a six of clubs. You can now assume a self-confident appearance with the words: “It is impossible to deceive me.”

3. Feigning concentration, collect the deck from the table and, holding it face down, fan through to the first face-up ace. Holding the cards above the ace in your right hand, say, “Jacob, I think you said stop on the six of clubs.” Place the stack from your right hand face up on the table, with the top card being the six of clubs.

4. Place the Ace face up next to her on the table and fan the cards again until you reach the second face up Ace. Feigning deep concentration, say: “Hey, Eugenia, I believe she said “stop” on the king of hearts.” Place the cards from your right hand face up on the table again - and the top card will be the King of Hearts.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Mechanical centipede for intestinal diagnostics 13.06.2022

Scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems have designed a robotic "centipede" with a size of 3,7 mm.

A special robot was designed to diagnose the human intestine. The robot will be used for diagnostics, as well as for biopsy - transporting drugs to the right places in the body.

It is noteworthy that the robot can lift loads that are three times its size.

The robot is based on a ferromagnetically elastic sheet body. Also included are cylindrical ring-shaped pads with hydrogel spikes.
