Focus Description:

The deck of cards is divided into two parts. One half is flipped face up and inserted into the other half, still holding cards face down. The deck now consists of cards shuffled face up and face down. This mixed deck is carefully shuffled by the spectator.

The magician extends his right hand forward and the spectator is asked to deal 26 cards in the palm of his hand. Once this is done, the demonstrator declares that the number of face-up cards in his hand is exactly equal to the number of face-up cards in the spectator's pack. Both packs are opened on the table and the cards face up in both halves are counted.

The statement is fully supported. While it is likely that the number of face-up cards in both packs will be approximately equal, it is very unlikely that they will be exactly the same. In addition, the focus can be repeated any number of times and will always be the same.

Focus secret:

Before starting the demonstration, the magician secretly marks the 26th card in the deck. This allows him to split the deck exactly in half. He simply opens the cards in a fan and divides them according to the card he memorized. It seems to the audience that he divided the deck randomly into two approximately identical groups.

One half is flipped face up and the two packs crash into each other. Now the spectator counts 26 cards into the palm of the magician. A little thought and you will guess that the 26 cards in the magician's hand should contain exactly the same number of face-down cards as in the remaining face-up pack. The magician can only quietly turn his pack over. When he flips his hand palm down to reveal the cards on the table, this flipping is done automatically.

This must be done when the spectator is busy revealing his half, which makes him little able to see that the magician, when laying out the cards, reveals them. As a result of this flipping, the number of face-up cards in both packs is the same.

Before repeating the number, the magician must remember to turn over one of the halves (no matter which one) again. This brings the deck back into proper condition - 26 cards face up and 26 cards face down.

Cards of the same color are turned over, and all ten are carefully shuffled by the spectator. For a moment, the magician puts the cards behind his back. Then he holds out the cards in front, five in one hand and five in the other, which he immediately lays out on the table. The number of open cards in each five turns out to be the same, and these cards will be of a different color.

For example, if three red cards are open in one five, then three black cards will be open in the other five. The trick can be repeated as many times as you like, and it will always succeed.

The principle of operation is exactly the same as before. Behind the back, the magician simply divides the pack in half and, before showing the cards to the audience, turns one of the halves over.

Of course, any even number of cards can be used, as long as half of them are red and half are black.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Washing powder plus polymers 24.01.2013

A significant part of the price of modern washing powders is enzymes. They are obtained from genetically modified microbes and are added to the laundry detergent in order to make it easier to wash various biological contaminants, such as stains from food, drinks or sweat. With dirty water, expensive enzymes go down the drain, and their impact on the environment has not yet been studied.

Indian scientists suggest not to throw away enzymes. Chandra Pundir and Nidhi Chauhan of Haryana State University have found a way to firmly bind enzyme molecules to PVC. They treat the surface of the plastic first with aqua regia and then with glutaraldehyde. As a result, the PVC surface becomes "sticky" for enzyme molecules, which does not prevent them from doing their job in the attached state. Chemists offer to produce tanks for washing clothes processed according to their method.

The walls of such a tank hold 4070-200% of the enzymes from the solution poured into the tank and keep them for XNUMX washes, and you can wash it with a cheap powder without enzymes or even with simple soap. For India, where a rare family owns a washing machine, this is very important. And for developed countries, they plan to produce polymer balls with enzymes that will be filled into the machine during washing and work together with ordinary powder, without losing their cleaning properties for a long time.
