Focus Description:

The magician gives the viewer a pack of 18 cards and asks him to do the following operations above them under the table so that no one can see: turn over the top pair of cards (that is, the top two cards taken together) and "remove" the pack, turn over the top pair again cards and take it off again.

So the viewer can continue as long as he pleases. It is clear that as a result of these actions, the cards move in a completely unforeseen way, and neither the number nor the position of the open cards in the deck can be known to the demonstrator.

Then the magician, sitting on the opposite side of the table from the viewer, stretches out his hand under the table and takes the pack. Leaving his hands under the table (so that no one, including the one showing himself, can see his actions on the cards), he announces that he will now take out a pack and it will contain so many open cards. He says a number. The cards are taken out from under the table and laid out. The number given is correct.

Next comes the next effect. The magician arranges the cards in a certain way without giving the viewer a chance to see the preparation. The pack is handed to him with a proposal to upset the order by repeating the initial steps.

After the spectator turns the pairs over enough and lifts himself to complete satisfaction, the performer gets up from the table and turns his back to the table. He asks the spectator to draw cards and memorize the top card. If the card is face down, then it must be turned over. If a card is already face up, it does not need to be turned face down. In both cases, he must memorize the map. After that, the pack is lifted once.

Once this is done, the magician sits down at the table and again extends his hands under the table to pick up the pack. He states that he will try to find the chosen card. After a moment, he turns the cards up and declares that all the cards are now face down, except for one card - the one that was chosen. The spectator names his card. the performer opens the pack on the table. All cards are face down except for the chosen one, which is face up in the middle of the spread!

Focus secret:

The first focus is obtained completely automatically. In order for him to come out, you only need to hide the cards under the table and walk over them, turning over every second card. After that, it is announced that there are nine open cards in the pack, which is equal to half the number of cards. (Any even number of cards can be used for the trick to work.) When checked, everything will be confirmed.

When preparing the pack for the second effect, the performer arranges the cards so that every second one is face up. Naturally, he does not allow the audience to see this preparation. After the card has been chosen in the manner described, the magician takes the pack under the table and performs exactly the same procedure as the first time - that is, turns over every other card. This will bring all the cards facing one way and the chosen one in the other, and close to the center of the pack.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

3,2 gigapixel camera for astronomers 06.05.2012

The US Department of Energy has approved the construction of the world's largest digital camera.
The digital camera for the LSST telescope will have 3.2 billion pixels and will provide astronomers with an unprecedented deep, clear and wide view of the night sky. Such an instrument has never been created, and scientists are looking forward to its completion.

The construction of the most "sighted" telescope will begin in 2014. Preliminary work on its manufacture began in 2008 - with the manufacture of the primary 8,4-m mirror.

The LSST Large Survey Telescope will survey the entire visible sky every week, creating an unprecedented database of about 6 million gigabytes per year. This is equivalent to about 800 shots a day with a typical 8-megapixel camera. Of course, the unique LSST digital camera will be able to take much better photographs, which will help answer important questions about the nature of dark matter and dark energy, explore near-Earth asteroids, Kuiper belt objects, the structure of our Galaxy, create three-dimensional space maps and perform a host of other observations needed. in other areas of astronomy and fundamental physics.

Interestingly, the LSST data will be published in the public domain, which will allow astronomers from any corner of our planet to study objects of interest to them. This should multiply the "useful output" of scientific discoveries and, for example, study rapidly changing objects, analyze their behavior and characteristics.
