Focus Description:

The magician takes two wands stacked together and pulls on the end of the string sticking out at the top of one of the wands. The rope is easily pulled out. Then the artist pulls the string from the side of the second stick, turning the sticks at this time into a horizontal position. The rope, appearing from the side of one stick, disappears from the side of the other (Fig. 1).

The performer cuts the string connecting both sticks and shows the sticks to the audience, keeping them at a distance. But even now the rope is pulled back and forth again, as if it had remained intact (Fig. 2,3)

After that, the artist takes one of the sticks and inserts it into the top pocket of his jacket. Spectators become witnesses of a very funny picture: the performer pulls a string from a stick, which he holds in his hand, and the string is pulled into a stick sticking out of his jacket pocket.

Focus secret:

For this trick, it is also first of all necessary to make two sticks 30-40 cm long. Inside the sticks should be hollow, But not through, but with bottoms. Holes should be made in the upper part of the sticks, passing a piece of rope with a weight at the end into each. These internal weights should be quite heavy: it is best to make them from tin. Beads are put on the ends of the ropes brought out so that the rope does not slip into the hole (Fig. 4).

Now both sticks must be connected with a small piece of string, making small indentations on the inside of the sticks for this. The ends of the rope are pushed into these recesses. It turns out a fictitious connection of sticks.

If such a stick is tilted, then the rope will move under the action of an internal weight. This is the main secret of focus.

If you put the sticks together and hold them upright, the inner weights will sink to the bottom. At the moment of demonstrating the trick, turning the sticks to a horizontal position, you need to pull the string from one stick (Fig. 5).

Then, imperceptibly moving the sticks from a horizontal position to an inclined one, you should pull the rope from the other stick. The same manipulations are done with the sticks after cutting their fictitious connection and when one of the sticks is placed in the jacket pocket (Fig. 6).

With careful practice of the trick, one can achieve such consistency in the movement of the ropes that it will seem to the audience that the rope is intact and that it is stretched across the sticks.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>
