In experience"Mix colors"you got the white color by adding multi-colored sectors. In "Aquarium in the dark"All the colors of the rainbow came out of white. But since all this is so, then the white color is not white at all, or rather, it is not simple, but composite? Maybe that's why a rainbow is obtained in the shroud of rain and in the splashes of the fountain, iridescent stains in a film of kerosene or gasoline on the surface of a puddle?

Yes it is. The sun sends us light in which all the rays are mixed: red, green, and purple. This light appears white to us. But look: here he fell on a sheet of paper and on a sheet of wood. Why is one leaf white and the other green? Because paper reflects all the rays, and the same mixture of all colors gets into our eyes. And the greenery of plants best reflects the green rays. The rest are absorbed. If you come across red glass, even from a photographic lantern or from a car brake light, look through it at the grass and trees. They appear very dark, almost black!

This means that very few red rays are really reflected from them! And colored glasses, why do they seem colored? Because from all the motley solar mixture they "choose", not all the rays pass through. If you have at least 6x6 cm colored glass plates, you can make a fun experiment with colorful stars.

Take a sheet of cardboard, cut it slightly and bend it at an angle. On each sash, draw a circle with a radius of 3 cm so that when the sheet is folded in half, the centers of the circles coincide. In each circle, draw a four-pointed star. Only one star should have two vertical and two horizontal beams, and the other must have all the beams rotated by 45 °. This is clearly seen in our figure.

Carefully cut out the stars along the contour and place the cardboard on the table between the screen - a sheet of white paper - and two candles or two table lamps. These candles or lamps must necessarily be of the same height.

Is white not white?

Adjust the angle between the cardboard flaps so that the bright stars on the screen lie one on top of the other and get one eight-pointed star. Now cover one of the lamps with colored glass. If you can’t find any colored glass, you can take a simple one and smear it with Vaseline, slightly tinted with colored ink.

Look, the star on the screen has become tricolor! The middle is white, some rays are colored in the color of glass, and others - in addition to it! If, say, the glass is red, the teeth will be red and green, if blue - blue and orange, if purple - lilac and yellow!

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Windmill on the high seas 18.12.2009

Wind power plants are more profitable to put in the sea, away from the coast. Above the flat surface of the water, the wind is stronger and more stable, and the constant noise from the rotating turbine does not disturb the surrounding residents. Coastal wind farms have existed in the world for 30 years, but far from land, great depths make it difficult to install a tower with a windmill at the bottom.

In the summer of 2009, the Norwegian company Statoil-Hydro installed the first wind farm on the high seas, 10 kilometers from the Norwegian island of Karme. This windmill with a capacity of 2,3 megawatts, manufactured by the German company Siemens, does not rest on the bottom, but is only anchored on it with three braces and floats in the water column, protruding 65 meters above the sea. The structure can be installed at depths up to 700 meters, which is seven times the average depth of the North Sea.

The system is considered experimental: over the course of two years, engineers will check whether it is easy to maintain and repair a floating power plant, as well as how reliable the transfer of generated energy to land via an underwater cable will be.
