Here are the recipes linseed oil bleaching.

Bleaching with sulfuric acid

A certain amount of linseed oil is loaded into a vat lined with lead and equipped with a stirrer. 3-5% concentrated sulfuric acid (sp. w. 1,84) is added and stirred for 8-10 hours. After this time, the oil is poured into glass vessels and exposed to light for a period of 3 to 6 weeks.

Sulfuric acid has a destructive effect on colored organic impurities, which are deposited in the form of a dark precipitate on the bottom. Next, the oil is drained from the sediment and washed with warm water. The water-free oil is slightly heated to remove traces of water and then filtered.

Bleaching with potassium permanganate salt

For every 10 kg of oil, 1 liter of a 3% potassium permanganate salt solution is added to a lead-lined stirrer, then the oil is stirred for 1 hour and allowed to stand for another 2 days, stirring occasionally. After this period, 6 percent hydrochloric acid (sp. w. 1,16) is added to the oil with constant stirring, the stirrer is rotated for 1 hour and the oil is allowed to settle for 24 hours. Next, the oil is drained, thoroughly washed with warm water and filtered (you can use a press filter). This method gives a completely colorless oil.

Bleaching according to the method of Metna and Clarkozone

To 200 kg of raw linseed oil, add a solution of 20 kg of sodium sulfide salt in 400 liters of water, mixing thoroughly, after which the oil is allowed to stand for 32 hours, stirring from time to time. After settling, a colorless oil is obtained, and it does not change its properties. After bleaching, the oil is separated from the aqueous liquid, which contains some oil, usually recovered by naphtha.

Bleaching with two-chromium potassium salt

Bleaching is carried out, as in the first two cases, in a mixer. To 100 kg of raw linseed oil, add a solution of 3 kg of dichromate potassium salt in 10 liters of hot water with stirring. Stirring continues for 1,2 to 1 hour, then the solution is left alone for 48 hours. Next, add 4 kg of hydrochloric acid (20 °Be; specific gravity 1,16), mix well and leave for 24 hours. Then the oil is washed, allowed to settle and filtered through bone charcoal (on filter presses).

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Background music interferes with creativity 19.03.2021

Background music, contrary to popular belief, does not improve, but worsens a person's creative abilities.

This conclusion was made by researchers from Sweden and the UK. They asked the study participants to complete a series of tasks with words that required a creative approach. As it turned out, background music significantly impaired people's verbal abilities.

It did not matter whether the participants liked the music or what genres they listened to.

At the same time, the researchers found that in the library, where there is also background noise, the participants in the experiment coped with creative tasks as well as in complete silence.

Renowned psychologist John Marsh claims that this can be explained by the fact that the background noise in the library is stable and doesn't change, meaning it doesn't interfere much.
