Let us make several experiments in which heat will appear without fire and without the participation of electricity.

Let's start with heating the air. You probably have a bicycle pump at home. When you pump air into a bicycle chamber, the pump housing heats up noticeably. The piston of the pump compresses the air with force. From compression, the air heats up, and its heat is transferred to the pump housing. Mechanical energy has been converted into thermal energy.

Another experience is connected with the heating of metal. Take a piece of copper or iron wire about one millimeter thick and begin to quickly bend and unbend it. The folded area will get very hot. When you hit metal with a hammer (for example, straightening a metal bar or hammering a large nail), the place you hit with a hammer gets very hot. Here, too, mechanical energy has been converted into thermal energy.

Friction can also heat wood. Take a dry board, make a small notch in it, insert the slightly pointed end of the stick into it and begin to quickly rotate it with your palms in one direction and the other, pressing on the board. The end of the stick will get very hot from friction. In ancient times, fire was made by friction, there were no matches. Special types of wood were selected, and a small device was used to increase the speed of rotation. And in our time, in some places on Earth, tribes live who still produce fire by friction.

Heating without fire

And finally, another way to produce heat without fire is with the help of the rays of the Sun. Now in the southern regions of our country, where there are many sunny days a year, with the help of a system of mirrors, solar energy is used to heat water to the desired temperature, while saving a lot of fuel.

If you have a weak magnifying glass, on a clear, sunny day, use it to point the sun's rays at your hand. Be careful: you can feel intense heat. With a strong enough lens, you can even light a piece of paper. But this must be done carefully to prevent a fire.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Schumacher battery collection 25.01.2007

As you know, F1 racing star Michael Schumacher has stopped performing, but his name is still exploited for advertising and marketing purposes. Admire the collection of all kinds of batteries, accumulators and chargers produced by ANSMANN Energy.

The fact is that the multiple winner of the "Formula" has become the "advertising face" of the new series, in which the high-speed charger Super Speed Charger attracts special attention. Probably, the producers well remembered the words of Schumi himself, who often mentioned in his interviews that "it would be nice to recharge the batteries."
