Take two half-liter glass jars and fill one of them with clean water. Dip a raw egg into it. It will sink, it will sink.

Pour a strong solution of table salt into the second jar. Two tablespoons of salt is enough for half a liter of water to make the egg float. Of course, you understand why this is so. Salt water is heavier. No wonder it is easier to swim in the sea than in the river.

For the experiment, we need a third jar, a liter. Put an egg in it and pour water from both small jars in turn. You will be able to get a solution in which the egg will not float to the surface, but it will not go to the bottom either. It will stay in the middle of the solution, as if suspended!

Egg in salt water

Now you can show your comrades the trick. Pour a little fresh water into the jar - the egg will sink ... Pour salty - it will float! This will seem all the more surprising since salt water does not look any different from fresh water.

This experiment can be done with raw potatoes, only the salt will have to be dissolved more. A potato is heavier than an egg, it is more difficult to make it float.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Accountants - low ceilings 16.08.2007

Psychologist Joan Meyers-Levi, professor of marketing at the University of Minnesota (USA), analyzed the thinking of people working in rooms with a ceiling height of 244 and 305 centimeters.

It turned out that low-ceilinged offices encourage employees to concentrate more on the tasks they perform, work more accurately, and prevent and catch errors. High ceilings in the room help to generate fresh ideas, make long-term plans, and think high.

Thus, the management of the organization should sit in offices with high ceilings, and accountants - with low ones.
