I offer a simple triac regulator, which I have been using for more than a year. It can be used, for example, to control an instantaneous water heater, a powerful collector electric motor, a welding machine, an electric furnace. The controller circuit is shown in fig. 1. The TS1-132-50 triac was used as a power switch VS6, capable of switching loads up to 8 kW.

High Power Triac Regulator

The triac control unit contains a pulse generator based on a unijunction transistor VT1. With the help of a variable resistor R3, the pulse delay is adjusted relative to the moment when the mains voltage passes through zero, which changes the triac switching angle and the power delivered to the load. Transistor VT2 serves as an amplifier for the power of pulses that open the triac. Transformer T1 is made on an annular magnetic circuit of size K20x12x6 made of ferrite 2000NM. Its primary winding (I) contains 60 turns of PELSHO 0,1 wire, the secondary (II) - 40 turns of PELSHO 0.2 wire. The windings must be reliably insulated from each other. The insulation must be designed for a voltage of at least 300 V. The control unit is powered from the mains through quenching resistors R1. R2 and diode bridge VD1. The voltage rectified by the bridge is stabilized by the zener diodes VD2 and VD3.

The triac should be placed on a heat sink with an area of at least 300 cm2, other elements of the cooling device are not required.

Instead of a TC132-50-6 triac, two T132-50-11 trinistors can be installed. connecting them in anti-parallel, as shown in Fig. 2. Transformer T1 in this case must have two identical secondary windings.

High Power Triac Regulator

Since the triac (trinistor) regulator creates radio interference, it is recommended to shield it well and connect it to the network through a filter (see the diagram in Fig. 3).

High Power Triac Regulator

The magnetic circuit of the inductor L1 - W 12x15 from ferrite 2000NM. The windings contain 15 ... 20 turns of wire, the cross section of which is selected based on the load power, and its insulation must withstand the full mains voltage. For the best noise suppression, both windings are wound simultaneously with a wire folded in half. Capacitors C1-C3 - MBGP or another type, rated for a voltage of at least 400 V.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The world's oceans accumulate mercury and release it into the atmosphere 02.04.2023

A new study has shown that excess mercury enters the atmosphere from the oceans. The estimate of the amount of mercury in the atmosphere has been increased by 40%. Almost all mercury in nature is found in a bound form - in cinnabar. And for the dispersion of this toxic substance is mainly responsible for human activity.

A group of environmental scientists working at several institutes in China and the United States, as well as one in Belgium, found that the excess amount of mercury released into the atmosphere in the global circulation comes from the oceans.

Mercury is a heavy, silvery-white metal that exists in a liquid state at room temperature. It is clear that it is found in the environment and in most plants and animals. In nature, mercury is commonly found in cinnabar deposits. Thus, most of the mercury found in the environment is the result of human activities.

Higher than normal levels of mercury in the body can lead to a range of health conditions, including anxiety, irritability, and depression. Previous research has shown that the most common form of mercury poisoning comes from eating seafood.

The new model showed estimated levels of mercury around the globe and in the atmosphere. The researchers compared their results with other reference models and found a significant difference. According to their model, 40% more mercury enters the atmosphere every year than is noted in the reference models. The difference, in their opinion, was the amount of mercury in the oceans. The new model showed higher levels of mercury in the oceans than previously thought and higher emissions to the atmosphere.

The team suggests that higher levels of mercury in the atmosphere almost certainly lead to more mercury in the environment, which could put people at risk.

An excellent circuit, I tried T-132-50 thyristors as a power switch, MPPT 40-10 thyristor assemblies, they work perfectly, to obtain maximum power in the load, the selection of resistor R4 is required. Base 1 of the transistor kt 117a must be connected to a 6 ohm resistor R75, and base 2 to a 5 ohm resistor R680. The primary winding of the transformer T1 was wound with a palsho wire with a diameter of about 0,13 mm over copper, the secondary 0,25 mm, so that it was available. When used with a flowing water heater, you can put R1 in the open circuit - a diode bridge kts 407, a programmer or a temperature sensor.
