Schneider Electric has announced a new series of Uniflair inverter screw chillers for large data centers that provide efficiency, accuracy and customization to adapt to current and future data center cooling needs.

Large air-cooled, free-cooling chillers provide increased cooling capacity and lower energy consumption for high energy efficiency under all environmental conditions. Uniflair screw chillers are among the first solutions for low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants.

"Uniflair's latest chillers are designed with sustainability in mind and provide businesses with significant energy efficiency and reliability even in challenging environments. Through the use of environmentally friendly refrigerants combined with reduced energy consumption, this offering highlights Schneider's commitment to purposeful innovation and sustainability, and gives customers the ability to adapt for the future." " said Pankaj Pathak, director of cooling systems, Secure Power, Schneider Electric.

Schneider's latest 300-2200kW Uniflair chillers feature significant improvements to highly efficient and reliable data center cooling and enhance the current platform with new sizes and configurations.

In addition to driving data center sustainability through innovation, Schneider Electric reaffirmed its commitment to working with the industry as a member of the coalition that established the Infrastructure Mason Climate Accord. Climate Deal Infrastructure Mason (iMason), a non-profit professional association that brought together a historic cooperative of over 50 companies including AWS, Microsoft and Google to reduce the carbon footprint of digital infrastructure materials, products and power.

The mission of this agreement is to standardize global carbon accounting in digital infrastructure, influencing market decisions to encourage the industry to achieve carbon neutrality.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Android named the most dangerous mobile operating system 19.04.2012

Blackberry, according to Trend Micro experts, is the most secure among the main modern mobile operating systems. Android, at the same time, is the least secure. Blackberry 7 OS from Canadian smartphone maker Research in Motion is the most secure mobile operating system on the market, according to a new report from Trend Micro.

As part of their study, Trend Micro compared the level of security of four of the most popular operating systems for smartphones - Blackberry, Android from Google, iOS from Apple and Windows Phone from Microsoft - when used by corporate users.

Operating systems were tested according to several main criteria: the presence of built-in security, authentication, application security, built-in firewall, the ability to wipe the device, and a number of others. The Blackberry operating system managed to score the highest score of 2,89. In second place was iOS with an indicator of 1,7, in third - Windows Phone - 1,61. Android showed the worst security scores, scoring only 1,37 points.

According to the authors of the report, "BlackBerry OS performs very well in all major criteria, standing out from the other three mobile platforms. The system provides enterprise-level security, as well as the ability to flexibly configure and manage security tools - all this makes this platform a good choice for use by enterprises. One of the main reasons for low Android score is system fragmentation. "Android lacks a core means of providing updates to the operating system, leaving many users unprotected from critical vulnerabilities for long periods of time," Trend Micro said.

On iOS, the report states that security in Apple's mobile operating system is affected by the physical features of the iPhone and iPad. So, the system does not offer options for adding removable media (for example, USB, - approx. CNews), the absence of which provides another level of protection for users. Experts call Microsoft's Windows Phone "relatively reliable and secure."

"Against a backdrop of growing and non-stop consumerization, any mobile device carries some business risk. What is interesting about these results is that some mobile platforms have recently developed very noticeably along the corporate line, but they still have a strong legacy of "consumer marketing", which often undermines advances in system security," said Rimund Genes, CTO of Trend Micro.
