The tunable square-wave generator consists of a multivibrator on transistors V2, V6 and V3, V4 with a tunable repetition rate and a measured duty cycle and two key stages on transistors V1 and V5.

Tunable square wave generator

The threshold of operation of the key stages is determined by the diode V7. Changing the duty cycle of the pulses is carried out by a variable resistor R4, and frequency tuning is carried out by a resistor R5.

With the values of the elements indicated in the diagram, the rectangular pulse generator is tuned linearly in frequency in the range from 5 to 500 Hz and in the duty cycle from 2 to 5. With a load resistance of 620 ohms, the pulse amplitude is almost constant and equal to 5 V. The current consumed by the generator is 3 mA.

Transistors MP116 can be replaced with MP114, MP115, and MP113 with MP111, MP 112.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

RFID tag 4x4 mm with built-in antenna 09.05.2016

The new NFC transponder chip is one of the world's smallest RFID tags with an integrated antenna. The RF37S114 is a full fledged 13.56MHz transponder compliant with NFC Tag Type 5 ISO/IEC 15693 and ISO/IEC 18000-3 (Mode 1) standards.

On a chip measuring only 4x4 mm, a loop antenna is placed, which, despite its miniature size, allows you to read data at a distance of at least 5 mm. The chip can be used for product identification, supply chain management, inventory control and other applications. Depending on the type of reader and its antenna, up to 50 RF37S114 tags can be read in one second.

RF37S114 feature is the absence of pins for soldering - the work goes through the antenna placed directly on the chip body. The chip has a unique 64-bit immutable ID and 256 bits of user-rewritable memory. Access to the built-in user memory is carried out using a reader at a frequency of 13.56 MHz. The memory is organized in 8 blocks of 32 bits. For each user block, there is a separate protection bit, when set, further overwriting of data becomes impossible.

As a reader, you can use the TRF797x series chips (Article on TI RFID solutions). When using the TRF7970A reader chip and an antenna of 5 turns of wire with an external size of 20x20 mm, the tag reading range was 1,6 cm. The guaranteed data storage period is 10 years, the number of rewriting cycles is at least 100 thousand. The operating temperature range of the microcircuit is -20 ... + 70 ° C, the case size is 4 mm x 4 mm x 0.66 mm + -0,1 mm.
