ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Microwave divider for frequency meter. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Measuring technology The proposed probe-divider for the frequency meter is designed to measure the frequency in the range of 60...2300 MHz. The input signal through the high-pass filter C2-L1 with a cutoff frequency fc=55 MHz is fed to the input of the microwave amplifier at VT1. Its source is AC grounded by capacitors C7, C8. Diodes VD1, VD2 protect input VT1 from overvoltage. The amplified signal is fed to the first counter-divider DD1 (division ratio - 4), the second divider DD2 (4) and the third divider DD3 (10). Further, the signal through the ESL / TTL converter on transistors VT2, VT3 is fed to the output of the divider (XP2). Since the probe division factor is 16, the frequency meter readings must be multiplied by 16 accordingly. For a microcomputer-based frequency meter, the software must be modified so that the resulting frequency is multiplied by 16 before being displayed on the indicator. In this case, on an 8-digit indicator, the leftmost digit will display units of gigahertz . For convenience of reference, it is advisable to "light up" a dot (comma) in the fourth digit from the left. Setting up the probe is done like this. The left output of C6 is disconnected and a 1,6 GHz signal with an amplitude of about 1 V is applied to it from the generator. The frequency meter connected to the divider will show a frequency of 1 MHz. If the frequency meter is rebuilt according to the above method, it will show a frequency of 16 MHz, which actually corresponds to 1,6 GHz or 1600 MHz. Connection C6 is restored and a signal of the same frequency with an amplitude of not more than 1 mV is applied to XP100. In this case, the frequency meter must steadily register the desired frequency. Otherwise, R5 is selected and the drain current VT1 is set to 8 ... 9 mA. The L1 coil is frameless, has 8 turns of PEV-2 wire 00,5 mm and is wound on a 05 mm mandrel. As DD2, you can use the K193IE7 chip. If K1IE193 is used as DD5, the upper range of measured frequencies will decrease to 1,5 ... 1,7 GHz. Individual copies of the K193IE7 IC operate stably at frequencies of 2,7 ... 2,9 GHz. The probe is surface-mounted and encased in a brass shield, but conventional mounting is also possible. When using foil textolite (e = 4,7), the width of the printed tracks of the input signal circuits (drain-source VT1, input DD1) should be approximately 1,5 mm, for foil fluoroplast (e = 2,9) - 3 mm (with a thickness substrate material 1 mm). The probe is designed for a low-resistance load and has a low input impedance (50 ohms). To measure the signals of high-resistance sources, the elements R1, R2, C1, VD1, VD2 must be excluded, and the capacitance C2 must be reduced to 1 pF. In this case, in order to avoid breakdown of VT1, it is not recommended to measure microwave oscillations of large amplitude. The probe, for convenience, can be equipped with removable low-resistance and high-resistance probes. Author: V. Fedorov, Lipetsk; Publication: N.
